That nightmare continues. Of course the updating made changes to the GO, it destroyed my opening PIN-code security. _________________ Harry (TT GO720T) |

Hi chaps
Thought you might like to see the latest on my progress. After posting to TTS as advised by DennisN (thanks again D)
then tts replied and here is the interesting bit,
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support with regards to your Go720 and Map Share.
The latest map for the Go720 (Western and Central Europe) is currently not available via TomTom HOME 2.
All TomTom Go720 users including yourself will be entitled to this free map upgrade when it becomes available shortly.
This map is currently in development, which explains why the Go720 currently has the latest version of the Western and Central Europe as this map should become available shortly via TomTom HOME.
We appreciate your patience and understanding regarding this matter.
Please let us know if you have further questions or suggestions as we will be happy to further assist you with this query.
With Best Regards
The TomTom Customer Support Team

The newest map to GO720 is Western_Europe v710.1561 which came out in the beginning of November. Does It make sense to publish a new map every month? Or is this a new indication of the TT Support's ignorance? _________________ Harry (TT GO720T) |

More likely that they've found something wrong that they can only fix with a whole new map.
Why else would they be offering it to ALL x20 owners, not just those who are eligible under the latest map guarantee terms? |

Anita, you are the known exception 920 map installed on the 720. You have the GO720 special edition (direct from TomTom).
TomTom:

Hi All
Have just spoken to tom-tom on the phone about updating maps on my 720t.
They are saying that the update has been stopped and a new version will be available in about 3 weeks and tom-tom home will automatically down load it.
Also the 28-day Map update guarantee will not apply.
What a nice Christmas present this will be from tom-tom if this works |

Wonder if this new map will fix the POI updates not working for many people, including myself. _________________ GO 620, Tomtom Android EU,

Hooray!! We now know exactly what the situation is ....
Harry from beautiful Finland has the WE map 710.
Anita (the beautiful lucky girlie) has the W&CE map for the 920.
Roco will get the W&CE map shortly.
DennisN has to wait about 14 days (now down to maybe 7) and try again.
DennisN has to get his spell checker sorting out typos.
Andy is keeping his head down, hoping he'll benefit from a free map, but daren't say anything in case it spoils his chances.
NO_MAD is looking forward to an early Christmas.
technik regards it all with wonderment.
TomTom are keeping shtumm! Has anybody had a newsletter from them this year? _________________ Dennis

Just what is the latest map?
Last Sunday I downloaded the 710 maps of W&CE and N. America from the website, via Home 2.1
The Europe map was version 7.10.1561
Is there a later version than this?
BTW, I have a Go910 running firmware version 7.161.

Hi all
Have just got this from tom tom
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support with regards to your TomTom GO720T.
In response to your query there is currently a challenge with the latest map guarantee section within HOME and it is not updating maps. We are working on a solution, and this should be rectified within one week. Once resolved you will be able to download the latest map, free of charge, using HOME. We ask that you please be patient as you new map should be available shortly. You will also receive a new version number. Thank you for your patience regarding this matter. If you have any additional queries, do not hesitate to contact us.

v7.10 are the latest maps.
The 4 digit number at the end doesn't necessarily mean newer or older - the Western Europe map will be v7.10.xxxx and the Western and Central Europe map for example will be 7.10.yyyy |

Thanks for clearing that up. Reading some posts online, I got the impression that 7.10.1561 was somehow flawed and that tomTom was about to release a new version 7.10.YYYY which would be a "corrected" version.
It now seems likely that the only problem with the WCE map is that it wont download for the free update for the 720 users seeking to take advantage of the guarantee. Seems like TomTom is working on a solution and will just grant the upgrade to all 720 owners irrespective of date of purchase, as the 30 period would have expired for a lot of eligible owners. Less hassle to allow all 720 owners a download. |

As stated clearly on your map sales website, you can purchase version 710 map for the GO720, obviously an update is available. If this update is being re-worked as you stated, please can you confirm that this will be available as a free update when it has been re-worked.
Please find attached my proof of purchase
Response (Chris V.) 22/11/2007 09.03 AM
Dear Chell,
I am advised by our PLUS services team that no ' latest map guarantee maps ' for 720 users have yet been made avilable.
The map is being re-worked and improved and will be released very soon.

Thank you for your reply, however, please can you explain why the updated map (v.710) is available to purchase for the go720 and I have 4 friends who have received via the 'latest map update' in home 2 the same map (v.710)
Response (Chris V.) 21/11/2007 08.28 AM
Dear Chell,
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support with regards to your 720 map upgrade
This map is not currently yet available for release , I have discussed this with our PLUs services team who oversee the map releases and they assure me that the map is in the pipe-line and will be released in the near future.
At this moment in time we do not yet have an exact release date.
With Best Regards

I have a new go720 with map version 705.1480. On your website I can buy the new map version 710 but cannot download this under the latest map guarantee. Please could you enable this download.
I am aware of lots of others experiencing the same problem with new go720's and some that have now got the new 710 map.

Its great that there's no same answer from them. I've now asked why the ver710 western europe map isn't available as its still an upgrade for v705 western europe, even if WCE maps are due 'soon' |

Why can`t you understand that the map has been pulled? Its been mentioned several times now that hardly any x20 users are getting the latest map guarantee. The ones that have are lucky. Its well known now that there was a problem with some v7.10 maps for the x20 units and thats why its be taken offline. I doubt very much that you could purchase successfully the map in question even tho it is listed in the sales section. And people wonder why tomtom take soo long to reply to genuine problems when some people ask the same question 3 times! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE
