Thx, sorry I just read the other thread on this, seems identical problem. I must admit paying £50 for an SD card was not expected, one of the things that ttracted me to this was the use of SD, as I have loads lying around the house.
I have tried 3 different ones and none work, or should I say, they can be seen through the 520 when connected to windows, but will not allow the device to switch on, or are read by the device standalone. I'm relectant to spend more money without being totaly sure it's going to work.
Can we have a sticky that lists those SD cards that have worked.
OK, an update. I decided to remove HOME and reload, this time I did not allow the update and this time I could see manage music and photo menus that I couldn't see before. Strangly the SD card was visible and using the manage music application i downloaded some mp3s to the SD through TT HOME.
Great I thought, but alas when I turned on the device, same thing, it would not load and just switched off. I turned it on without the SD card in and it switched on. Put the SD back in but it would not recognise the card
So, misses went out and bought me a new card (i'm home ill, I'll spare you the details). So I loaded the new 4GB SD card and opned TT HOME. The card was not recognised, grrrrrr.
So, using a ard reader I crated a folder mp3, put a track in there and booted the device. Well the device booted with SD card instaled, some success, went to the TT Juke Box and, wow it recognised the 1 song I put on the SD card, but none from the device memory?
Is there something I am missing, I read about ttgo.bif somewhere, but not sure whether I am supposed to put this on the card?
I guess there could be some really basic stuff I'm doing wrong here.
further update, er embarrased maybe, but I ran the Tom Tom Application for go 520/720 update 22.6MB and after rebooting the device my 4GB card is now read from HOME. Loaded loads of mp3 (500MB worth) and all reading OK.
have updated the list in previous post with the card my misses bought from PC world.
