[v7] New PGPSW CoPilot 7 Camera Database Format!

We have now officially launched our latest database format - for CoPilot 7. This new format is the latest to utilise our heading data which will reduce the amount of false warnings for cameras on the other side of the road.

I have downloaded the zip file. Now what do I do? I can't find installation instructions for Copilot 7.

It seems there is a separate file for each camera type. Do I copy each one across to EU/Save to obtain all the cameras? Incidentally, does the EU camera DB include UK? (I have played safe & just downloaded UK). If it doesn't, how do I include UK and EU cameras since I have full EU coverage in the maps

Drag all the files across. I think you need to delete all the AO files to remove the CP7 db. Load CP7 and it will run through several 'integrating update' cycles. I guess just add more files for the EU?

EU files DO NOT include UK files - this is so that the uk ones can be saved as mph and the EU ones as kph!

Hi MaFt,

The article you pointed to talks about a single file called safetycamera.... which is similar to what I had to do with Copilot6. The copilot7 comprises several files. I have copied them all across and copilot ran an update and all the files have disappeared so I guess it has absorbed them all. I can see the cameras on the map which I couldn't in copilot 6 unless they were entered as custom POIs. I have tried a preview of a route and it picks up the cameras although they are all GATSOs so still not sure if the mobiles etc are there. I note that one camera which can be swung round to cover both directions only picks up in one direction but that might be a problem with preview. Will provide feedback when I actually start driving.

Seems all the bitmap files disappear without trace - haven't found any trace of them yet, at least.

CP7 doesn't give much info on cameras when highlighted so, as you say the test will be in the driving.

I did note the Mio file has an extra field of 1 or 2 where direction is indicated. I guess this indicates one or two directions. Wonder if CP7 will support something similar.

Installed new database and works a treat, I pass about 8 fixed cameras to and from work and they all alert, all directional as well, very pleased with the update from ALK database.

Just one location which alerts in both directions where there is no fixed camera. Does the database have mobile sites where the camera is not always there (never noticed one in that location though ?

I copied all the files across and when i checked some of the cameras had not appeared so i copy all 6 files into 1 file and tried again this time they all appeared

also when the speed camera warning pops up it doesn't tell you the speed limit. I have requested a copy of the file layout from ALK to see how to rectify it

I have limits shown where the camera has a limit within the data.

I haven't noticed any missing cameras in the 250+ miles I've travelled in the last couple of days.

There doesn't seem to be any variation in warning symbol or speech between different types of camera unfortunately, so unless you know the area it's difficult to pick up a wrongly typed/positioned camera. Nothing to do with Pocketgpsw DB of course.

Thanks to PGPSW for the new CoPilot 7 download format. Can anyone confirm - since the download here contains BMP files for the camera icons does this cause Co Pilot 7 to lose it's own icons where it displays the speed or do they still work?

I assume all the files are places in the SAVE directory fromt he ZIP or does Co Pilot unzip the file as well now?
