Sidhe, you are not meant to edit it directly, just save it when you haveset the machine up the way you want it.

Ah ok Paul thanks for that. Is it possible to change the audible warnings the tomtom gives for things like safety cameras? if so, how? |

It sure is....
If you have a model with text-to-speech (the 910,520,720 and 920) you can type your own warning for it to read out.
If you have any other model, you can have pre-recorded voice alerts (saying something like "Warning, Gatso ahead. Speed limit 30 MPH")
Full instructions and a whole heap of different sets of voices can be found HERE |

iyad... what model do you have?
7.210 is only for x20 models
All other models (except the Go "Classic" the Go300 and the Rider, which don't have a v7 version available yet) should have a different version offered to them by Home when you connect up and ask it to download updates. |

Ahh... that's a blow!
Just one thing.. where are you looking to find the version. I know there is a bug in Home where the on-screen TomTom will show the wrong version number. Do it by tapping on the real TT screen on the satellite strength bars.
If that's not the solution, I'm a bit stumped...
As you are using Home v2.1 and you've clicked the "update my Go" box, that would seem the correct way to get it. As TT themselves say:
Quote: | You can use TomTom HOME to check if an updated application version is available for your TomTom device. Whenever you connect your device to your computer, TomTom HOME automatically checks if a newer version of the TomTom application is available for your device. |
Anyone else any ideas? |

In Home under the preferences tab it is possible to turn off Home looking for updates, which in this case would be bad _________________ TT720 V8.010, regular audio book user.

You can do a manual 'Update My Device' at any time. _________________ Richard

Yes, I noticed that. Realised I had to stop saying "It's only one fixed alert beep and a fixed warning distance" when comparing the TT database with the one from here. Neither is true any more... |

This is what TomTom said )p.s. It didn't help)
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support
Depending on what software version you had installed previously and which update you have just installed, you may need to reset the POI warnings on your device.
This is due to how the latest software versions handle POI's and POI warnings.
Once you have set the POI warnings up again, you will not need to do this again. |
