Hi! We see you’re using an ad-blocker. We’re fine with that and won’t stop you visiting the site.
But as we’re losing ad-revenue from this then why not make a donation towards website running costs?. Or you could disable your ad-blocker for this site. We think you’ll find our adverts are not overbearing!
We suggest that you reset your HandsFree connection, to do this, please follow the steps below:-
- Check to see if your phone is compatible with the TomTom device and can be used with Handsfree. See http://www.tomtom.com/phones/compatibility/
- Check that your TomTom device has handsfree capability. Not all TomTom devices have this feature.
Only the Go 500, Go 700, Go 510, Go 710, Go 910, Go 520, Go 720 and Go 920 have this feature. Please note that the TomTom One, TomTom One XL range does not have Handsfree calling.
- Connect your TomTom to your computer and switch it on.
- Open TomTom Home and download the latest application and phone database updates.
- Reset your TomTom to factory settings via the Change Preferences Menu
- Reset your TomTom with a paperclip in the reset hole for 20 seconds, see http://www.tomtom.com/6965
- On your Mobile phone remove all Bluetooth bondings from the phone
- Remove the phones battery for a few seconds, then reinsert the battery.
- Turn the phone back on and make sure it is visible for other Bluetooth devices
- On the TomTom, tap onto the Mobile Phone icon to initiate the hands free connection.
Your Handsfree connection should now be set up correctly. To test this out, try calling a landline number via the TomTom, and also try calling your Mobile Phone number from a landline.

Yeah they told me to do all that.
Made no difference.
Then they said it's because the Nokia 6300 is not supported, so I used my Nokia 6230i which is supported, guess what ????
Exactly the same as the Nokia 6300. _________________ TTGO730

Have just upgraded from 7.131 to 7.161 on my XL as well. Nothing functionally obviously different as yet.
Download said it was for One New Edition, One 3rd Edition and One XL.
It has loaded antitheft.bmp (shows at turn off instead of suspend if you have the option in safety features turned on). Was wondering what the point of that option was (after copying suspendw to antitheftw and editing it to see it working). _________________ Gerry

Update again.
The bluetooth handsfree is a massive improvement over the previous release.
It is clearer than it has ever been on my 510. _________________ TTGO730

With V7.160 my handsfree sound quality was terrible and but the wireless data worked well. Now with V7.161, my handsfree works well but the wireless doesn't !!!
I'm on the screen "Checking for wireless data connection settings..." Its been on 60% for about 15 minutes.

Maybe when V7.162 is released both will work.

UPDATE: Data connection is working this morning. It must have been a network issue.

1) Bluetooth handsfree is now awful, echo's everywhere and it hangs after a while dropping the call, but repeating the previous second or so of audio until I reboot.
Yes, I have also found the same problem as above. Is this a bug, or have I done something wrong?

I have also lost my hands-free on my TTGo710 since updating and guess what,(DID'NT BACK UP) . I have tried everything including restore foctory settings, hold re-set button with pin for 20secs. I have tried it with 5 different phones. Does anybody know if it is a version 7.xx problem or something else. Any help to rectify this problem would be much appreciated as the hands-free was one of the pointers i liked about my TT. Thanks in advance. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

And I bet you STILL haven't made one....
EVERY time you make a change, you leave yourself wide open to a heap of grief if you don't; and it's not necessarily easy to fix, as TT do not archive old versions of their software on the web.
Even if it's not how you like it now, do one.
Then if you try to go back to a previous version and it goes wrong and it gets WORSE you can at least get going again.
All I can suggest is looking at the archived versions on Oldboy's site
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/oldboy/TomTomUpdates/index.html
They are all v6 versions. You haven't said what you updated FROM, so one of those might be right for you. He might have a new one if you ask him here.
