I recently purchased a tomtom rider. This did not come with a product code but the sd card was loaded with the correct UK maps. Now apparently I should be able to see the product code on TTHome. I cannot find the number - could someone please point me in the right direction.

Also could someone please tell me how many digits this code is supposed to be so I can try and establish exactly what I am looking for.

I believe the activation system has now changed with the maps being installed via Home (I did not get a product code when I downloaded the latest map).

Product codes were 3 sets of 5 alphanumeric digits (letters and numbers) that may have been printed on the SD card box or on a credit card sized card in the original box.

I don't remember being able to "see" it either on the device or via the PC on earlier versions anyway - suspect it was a security measure in case the device got nicked.

If I'm wrong, someone will be along to correct me.

I checked all the data on home and there was nothing.
The unit is exdisplay and came with a charger the sd card and not a lot else. However considering I got it for a bargain price perhaps I should not moan so much.

Gerry is right, you SHOULD have got a product code card in the box. There is no other way to retrieve it, it certainly isn't readable anywhere on the unit (it wouldn't be much of a security system if you could).
New maps ARE locked to your unit via Home now, but that wouldn't apply to an old unit like the Rider.

It's no big deal though. AFAIK, it was only of any use when they did cheap map upgrades (as opposed to cheap new maps), and you needed the existing code to apply for them. They haven't done that for years now.

I was more concerned about warranty but halfords have given me a 12m warranty - not worth much I know but at least the service has been pretty good so far (fingers crossed).

Given my dealings with Garmin customer service and Tomtom - Garmin are streets ahead.

Like I said I should not complain the unit was relatively cheap and it did come with UK mapping.

Can you not get in touch with halfords? I bought my 910 from halfords during there clean out of sat navs and they had to shuffle between 3 boxes to get what was thought to be a complete package but when i got home there was no disc included and a quick called solved that and they had one for me to collect the next day.

Or contact tomtom as i got the card with the product code but it was invalid and tomtom asked me to send proof of purchase through to them and they would add the updated maps.
