|
|
I just got my TomTom 520.
I've just downloaded and installed the pocketgpsworld speed camera database and I see they are stored in the POI folder.
So my question is do I need to delete the safety camera folder from the tom tom which was pre installed before. Will having both these cause a conflict?
Thanks in advance! |

If you have them "stored in the POI folder" you've gone wrong somewhere!
Every individual file (ranging from 2 to about 50 depending on the version you downloaded) should have names beginning "pocketgps_uk_......."
All of these individual files go into your MAP folder (called "Western_Europe" on a 720 - will be something like "Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland" on your 520) They don't go in a POI folder.
But to return to your question, once you have the PGPSW alerts working there is no need to delete the TT ones, you can either leave them running in tandem (to see how much better the PGPSW ones are), or you can disable the TT ones in the "Plus services" menu.
Once they have seen how the two compare though, most people DO delete the TT files, just to make some space for other things. |

Many thanks for the reply.
I did copy and paste the files into the GB and Republic of Ireland folder. It's when I look at the device through TomTom Home they show as as being in the POI section. Do you recomend I transfer them to the Safety Camera section?
They are working fine though! |

Ah now I understand you.
Home has a habit of telling whatever stories it feels like. That's why we don't trust it much here. Win Explorer tells you what is REALLY going on.
In fact, if you look (with explorer) the TT safety cams AND your PGPSW files are ALL in the Map folder, which is exactly where they should be. |

Hello all,
I have just installed my camera files to My Guide Satnav and was wondering whether there is a way of telling me or not whether it will detect the cameras before i go out. the reason is that i went out today and it doesn't appear to have been working even though i went through several speed camera spots in birmingham.
thanks Simon |

mikealder wrote: | Mark, Start TomTom and go to Change Preferences/ Enable_Disable POIs, go through the list and disable (uncheck the box) for every POI listed.
Use Change Preferences/ Manage POI/ Warn When Near POI to alert you to the presence of a camera, having POIs enabled tends to slow the device down, put too many on and it will crawl along which is possibly what you are seeing.
Welcome to the forum by the way - Mike |
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back here but thanks for the advice. It was spot on. I had far too many POIs enabled. |

No it won't work on the 920 or the 920t as they are running version 7 software - Mike |

Have you unzipped the file into a folder and told POILoader where to find the files?
Which database did you download?
Have you tried the instrcutions here? |
