hi,

i wonder if anyone else is suffering these effects?
not wanting to cross post, i'm placing the post here as i believe the symptoms appears when the TMC receiver is connected.
it could be operator error on my part, i'm not sure if it is correct to connect the receiver before or after powering up the tom tom.
i'm still trying to isolate what triggers the anomaly.

the anomaly i get is from time to time, the tom tom will lock up, then time out and reboot, sometimes it will go into a reboot / off / on / reboot cycle until the TMC is removed.

i sometimes get 'slo-mo Jane', where Jane's voice deepens and slows down, strange.

i once had both of the above then tom tom, went to a black screen with some white text on it, i didn't take too much notice of exactly what it said as i was driving at the time, looked a little like computer language commands (a little like dos prompt or similar)

i'll keep trying to isolate the trigger, but during the meantime, i would be interested to hear if anyone else is suffering this or similar?

many thanks for your time.

regards,

GaRy:)

I have experianced a couple of re-boots with my device, normally when using the hands free for the phone, what I would suggest you try is that the RDS connector is fully inserted in its socket (it is quite tight, and takes some force to fully get it seated).

There doesn't appear to be any prefered order of connection vs powering up, I have found it will work using any order. Although the voice slowing down etc is not normal, have you got anything else on the device in way of extra applications etc. - Mike

I've started to experience this problem today. I've been using the new TMC receiver for a couple of weeks. I've also found the volume decreasing. A reset seems to cure the volume problem but the re-setting still persists.

I've pinned the problem down to the TMC receiver as the unit does not reset if the receiver is disconnected.

Anyone found what is causing this?

I've managed to fix this by re-formatting the hard drive.

I copied all the folders to the PC then reformatted the 910 hard drive.
I then connected it to TT Home and reinstalled the program to V7.
Then purchased the latest UK map and installed that.
Re-installed the Text to Speech folder from the PC.
Re-installed other maps from the backup on the PC.

Reset the 910 and it seems to be working fine all day.
Hopefully this will be permanent fix and won't need to go thorugh the process again!!

Has anyone else managed to fix this in any other way. Is there just one file causing the problem?
