Anyone know what the specs for the hardware are? Been on ALKs site, and it just says how fabulous it is and we should all buy it.

I too can't get the Live functions working on my Ipaq. Again ALK say they are working on that.
Also there is no Text to Speech in this version. However ALK say they hope to release that as an update before the end of the year. |

Hi all new here so go gentle
Ive not long had my Orbit and it came with CP V6.
I would like to know if the night/day feature is easier to use on V7 than V6 as its a right pain on V6 to find if you in a rush.
Ive been torn between V7 or going back to tomtom as I found tomtom alot more user friendly.
Oh and your right about the speed camera issue with V6 its a right pain shouting when you have passed the camera.
Cheers

Day/night is automatic and tied to location. You also get a choice of map styles. Used night mode for first time last night and thought it very good, no distraction at all. I'd go the for the update to CP7 |

Yes the bluetooth link to the phone works fine for other thigns - I can browse the internet etc. Its just that Co Pilot 7 wont open the connection to the phone - the screen that shou;d help with that has no content.
Alk claim to know about it and are working on a fix.
On the whole I like Version but think they rushed it out before it was ready - ie no Text to Speech and live broken. |

i have a feeling the main market was ppc phones ie the mda series from t-mobile is the target market.
live works fine with this device
to be honest i always found text to speech was over rate and never used in any previous versions of copilot so this is a complete rewrite of copilot and i think text to speech will come in time _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Well I finally got around to loading up CP7, don't like the SD card they provided so just installed direct from Copilot central to SD card, now the fun, no matter if I select region or area, won't install, says can't write country.dat. Finally selected entire region and it loads fine! go figure, lived in my area for 4 years, and still no streets, routing so far works ok, but not impressed with not having any routing profiles as in CP6. Not sure this was worth the upgrade as I have had no issues with CP6 at all. I'll give it another week or so to play with it and then might send it back and stick with CP6.
Update - well my first hurdle was that CP7 sucks with vista! just does not work worth a crap, I wish they had mentioned this somewhere would have saved me hours of figuring out what is wrong. Once I moved over to my XP laptop things started working much better. Still not sure about the whole program yet.
Update 2 - I'm done, software is just not working out, as much as I like CP, the v7 as far as I'm concerned is junk, still getting write errors with XP, finally got a small area to load but got license file write error, the program seems slower on my PPC than CP6 and when I close down CP Central in XP and restarted it would not load up again. I'll stick with CP6 or make the move to Tom Tom at this point. Too bad, the software looks good but apparently its way to early for release or is just not compatilble with my HX4700. |
