|
|
Hi,
I've upgraded to software version 7.160 and have updated my POIs from POIedit. What I've now noticed is that on the map the POIs look fine but if you go into Browse Map | Options | POI | Show POI Category on Map there appears to be some corruption on some downloaded POIs.
It looks like a language / screen driver corruption problem (see below)
http://www.nodarkroom.co.uk/clipart/dump.bmp
Anyone come across this?
Sorry, can't get the blasted IMG /IMG to work!! |

Mines the same. The file names for the PGPS cameras on the TT have corrupted to something like *qX-, *epX-, etc. The only ones affected though seem to be those where I have an associated voice file (.ogg) as the pmobile ane euro ones are OK. However all the cameras I passed today seemed to give a warning as before so everything seems to be working. When I connect to the computer, the filenames appear with their normal names.
Also as part of the so called upgrade, the auto on/off switching when the 12v power supply is turned off does not now happen. Seems to me its a downgrade rather than an upgrade.
Which file do I need to copy from my backup to get back to the previous version?
Also how do you do a screen dump from the TT to the computer so I can show you all what it looks like.

1. Open Notepad but don't type anything, save it with the filename 'capture' with NO extension.
2. On your SD card create a folder called 'screen'.
3. Copy the 'capture' file to this folder.
4. To take a screen dump press the screen near the '+' zoom in area (top left of screen) and it should make a camera shutter-click noise.
5. Retrieve the .BMP image from the screen folder.
Mine isn't really a problem - more annoying really. The POIs show fine on the map it's just when I go into choose which POIs I want displayed that I get the problem.
The speed cameras look fine despite the fact I'm using the OGG files. |

All the TT Devices can use it and is probably due the case sensitivity of Linux.
The Folder is Screen and the File is capture. _________________ Richard

Thanks to Mike Alders help, I have now managed to obtain a screendump showing typical corrupted filenames

Looks like the latest version is being messed up by the .INF files that POIedit produces alongside the OV2 and BMP files. I've deleted the .INFs and all seems fine.
If I get time to find out what these are, I'll let you all know. |

They store the time of the last sync, so only consequence of deleting those files is that POIEdit will reload all files instead of just the ones that need syncing.
Worth reporting to TomTom though. |

Oh thank you Milesey. That was exactly the problem. I've deleted mine and all is working as it should. That would explain it as it was only the POIs downloaded from POIedit that were affected.
Many thanks for spotting that one - much appreciated |

I've not followed this too closely, but...
1. I see it mentioned that it is POIs from POIEdit that this is happening with and
2. I see brian's picture with what looks like the PGPSW camera files (going by the icons)
Just thought I'd double check that everyone realises that POIEdit does'nt synchronise with the PGPSW database any more. If it still downloads anything at all, it will be a very old version.
Sorry, to go off-topic a bit. |

Don't have any .inf files and have not used Poiedit for some time. To answer Andy, yes they are PGPS files but only those with associated .ogg files. The ones without are OK, and when I look at the files on my comluter the file names are all normal. Despite this they still work!

The only ones affected on my GO were the ones from POIedit. Those I got from elsewhere (including PGPSW were all fine). Deleting the .INF files (which came down POIedit) have sorted out my problems.
It sounds like Brian has the same problem but is being caused by some other 'feature'. |
