TomTom 7.21 Update - Wiped my device!!!!

Upgraders Beware!!!!

I have today been advised by TT to update to the latest version of their operating software (v 7.21). This was to try and resolve another issue (which, by comparison now, seems miniscule).

Having made a back up of my device and downloaded the software, I am unable to access my device either through TT Home or when 'un-docked'.

The display on my TT 520 alternates between a flashing red circle containing a white cross, or an image of my memory card with a red cross through it.

Tried docking to my PC to restore the device and TT Home won't recognize my device.

TT Customer Service ( Laughing Out Loud

) have promised (at 5.30 p.m. GMT) to send e.mail instructions on how to resolve the situation. It is now 6.07, nothing's been received and they close at 6.30!!!

Looks like a day in the car tomorrow with a road atlas and pile of A-Z's. Again!!

Oh nostalgia eh!!

Have you tried restoring from your backups?

No problems here with the update on my 720 to same version.

Managed to get my device to link to my PC and restore the software.

Trying to re-install 7.21 now.

Did you install the upgrade on it's own? I had a GPSfix update at same time. Wonder if that's caused the corruption.

Will download them all individually this time.

Good that you got it going again.

I also downloaded with the GPSfix update, but unchecked the map and POI share updates. No problems at all.

Sorted.

Did each update individually. Didn't trip up or fall over.
