|
|
I have just got the official cable to attach my Ipod Classic to the Tom Tom Go 720, and am very pleased with how it works (apart from the damn volume being too low).
The thing is, the lead plugs into the Ipod where the charger would normally go. Does anyone know whether there is any way at all to charge the Ipod whilst listening through the TomTom? Thanks in advance. |

Darren might have tried out something?

It might do assuming all the pins are passed thru the connector, neat. I may have to get one and test | I'm afraid I don't have the willpower to search through the other 26 pages to find out :-) _________________ Jock

Why bother listening to an Ipod through your TTG?
You can get a Belkin Tunebase which not only allows you to listen to your Ipod through your car stereo, but allows you to charge it at the same time. |

Because it gives you touchscreen control of the iPod. |

I didn't because I found the FM Transmitter too poor to rely on and gave up with using the iPod in the car. _________________ Darren Griffin |

All iPod accessories (at least in the USofA) are required to charge the iPod. I am shocked tomtom's adaptor doesn't do the same! Apple would have a problem with this...

Whilst it is a curious omission, it has nothing to do with Apple! It's not an Apple approved accessory. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I found an in-line adapter with input for power.
Plug it into the Tomtom iPod cable then into the iPod. Needs a power supply (ideally stabilised) but works perfectly at 9 or 12v.
it's called the iPod power dock extender and is at the bottom left of this page:

Not cheap but excellent and works pefectly. |

that one looks much better. I had to add a power supply to my more expensive and less attractive solution. Mine is permanently connected to my v old iPod and is hidden in the dash so works well for me. Good find! |
