Just went upgrade the map on my 500, I have a 1gig card installed already. I have a few voices and POI installed as well as Weston Europe map. This takes up quarter gig on the SD card.
Came to buy new map and TomTom says 1 gig is too small. New map is about 960meg!
So a 2 gig card is in order. At least they are cheaper than chips!
So if you are ungrading make sure you have space on the card. |

I have a 500 and if your map if like mine it is UK+major (only) roads of Europe, which takes up 234Mb on mine. The western europe map is a fully detailed map of the whole of Europe, which is why it is 953Mb. If you do go for it, can you tell us whether you have any problems or not loading on to your 500.

You could always D/L 7.10 UK & IE at 130MB and retain your UK & W. Europe Major roads 6.75.
Providing your not subscribing to all the 100 poi's your allowed.
Just an idea...... _________________ TVR

OK I managed to get the Westen Europe map on my card, Had to delete a few voices and a few POI as well as the map file. did this via tt home 2.1.
took 3 hrs to down load and install last night. Strangly it also down loaded jane voice as it said their was not a suitable voice available. Went to bed 3.30 am so I am only just checking tt map now. Still no "Hints Bypas" on the A5 east of Tamworth.
I how have 30 meg or so left on my 1gig sd card. |

Home would not allow britan and ireland down load due to machine conflict?
Reloaded Camera files including ogg files. Just had a trip out, camera voices not working, yet you can set bells etc. tried to set distance for warnings and tt 500 came up with could not find picture then prompyly locked up?
Copied onto 2 gig sd card, did a few file up dates from this site. got it all up and running.
Now how do you change the emergency number in the help me file. I want 999 and not the nl one? |

If the NL number is 112, don't bother trying to change it. That number works exactly the same as 999. It is valid in all EU countries. |
