i have just downloaded and updated to the latest firmware on my tomtom one 1st edition, to use the mapshare feature it seems i have to pay yet again to download a new map.
my question is about 7 months ago i paid for the latest maps 6.60 on my tt1, do tomtom not give you a free update at all, and if not would it be worth paying again just to use the mapshare function.
any comments would be welcomed |

It really depends on whether you feel the need for the latest map. Ver 6.75 will, of course, be more up to date than 6.60 and would be reasonably valid regardless of Mapshare updates.
If you need to go to the Republic of Ireland, v6.75 is worth it.
As for your other point, I don't believe TomTom do free updates. I'll waits for someone to prove me wrong as there may be a cut-off point if you buy a "new" map just before another is released.

I personally would wait.
Tomtom will be releasing new maps, probably in the next couple of weeks.
Donīt go for the 6.75 maps, they arenīt that much improved over the 6.60 ones. |

Any background/proof to that statement, please?
In general, I don't think we can blame TT for it needing maps above a certain version. Mapshare probably hadn't been even been thought of when v6.6 maps came out. |

i agree with that but also i feel if you have recently purchased what at the time was a new map and then they release some more map's you should be entitled to a free upgrade, i mean imagine if microsoft decided to charge people for every little upgrade and fix they bought out, they would be extremely rich (which they are) or have a whole lot of angry people on their backs.
if there is some new map's i'll wait and see, but many thanks for all the replies |
