Can not connect 720 to PC

I have a TT GO 720, it’s a few days old and has replaced my TT 910. Overall I’m impressed , particulary the mount design which is massive improvement on the 910.

The 720 has stopped connecting to my PC. I get the following error message “The specified I/O operation on \Device\harddusk9\DR45 was not completed before time out period expired”

I’ve tried using TT home 1 & 2 , fresh installation, different USB ports, different USB cable . I can’t connect with either TT home or through Win Explorer . I’m running windows XP SP 2. Does anyone have any ideas please?

Start Menu / Settings / Control Panel / System / Hardware / Device Manager .
Check for any conflicts and delete any references to TomTom in the USB section.
