|
|
I have noticed in the past that often, when I update my GO 710, the PGPSW Camera icons become transparent when navigating. In the past I have overcome this by reloading the .bmp files onto the GO and that has always solved the problem.
I have just upgraded to the latest map of Europe (compensation from TT for the long wait for a working RDS-TMC receiver :-) ) and, at the same time, upgraded to a 2GB SD card. Everything is hunky-dory except for the speed camera icons. I've tried resetting the unit, recopying the .bmp files - everything I can think of and still they are transparent.
They are only transparent when navigating. They can be seen fine on the overview screens.
Can anyone help my ethereal icons back into this world? |

The later versions of firmware (eg your upgrade) uses red as the transparent colour. If you download the latest camera update the bmps have a slightly off-red to get around this.

hmm, I'll try that - but the border of the icon and the figures within it are red and I can see those - and the black camera image. It's the white background that has vanished. |

Noticed some threads a while ago regarding white being transparent on some releases as well. One of the best explanations is here. I don't know of a list of affected releases though.
It looks like the workaround is the same - change the white pixels to slightly off-white.

I have seen the white disappear from time to time on a couple of different devices, but it always comes back, is your unit doing this all the time? - Mike |

Personally, I was referring to the TomTom software releases. I had slightly altered an old set of icons so didn't use new ones until one of the XL upgrades.

Mike, it's the white background that has disappeared on mine and it seems permanent. Before I upgraded the card and the map, it used to happen sometimes, usually after a reset or something but I always found that is I simply copied the images to the Go again from my computer that the problem corrected itself.
I've tried this sveral times now though and I can't get the images back to how they were. |

Something I've just noticed which may, or may not, be relevant:
In my Western Europe folder, apart from the .bmp files and the .OV2 files, I have a load of .OV2.VER files which seem to be duplicates of the OV2 files in all but the name of the extension. I've never seen these before. Should they be there and might they be significant? |

Have just updated the application on my Go 710 to v. 7.160 (or whatever it is, haven't got it in front of me..!) and, hey presto! my icons now have their white backgrounds restored. |
