Hiya all,
I know im a newbie on here but i have owned tomtoms for a few years now, please excuse me if any of the following questions point to me being an idiot.
First of all i have just updated my tomtom 910 to a gleaming 720. Once started up i noticed the speed cameras wernt on the screen. I have checked the handbook (cd) and tried the tomtom fac section and found the exact section that was required, i followed the instructions and came to an abrupt halt, they said to. . .
tap main screen - done
go to tomtom plus services - done but with care, im very warey of the wireless data downloads, i had a huge phone bill on my 910!
tap tomtom safety cameras - done
then it said to tap enable safety cameras, all i have is update s/cameras, enable automatic updates, and a few others, none of which match enable safety cameras.
Am i being stupid or what? I have never had any problems before and all the cameras were transfered from my original TT700 to my TT910 with no problems. Why arn`t they just on the TomTom and ready to use, this is really anoying.
Many thanks in advance for any replies, oh yeah sorry if this is a common topic, i did have a quick shifty through the posts but didnt see any the same,

Although I'd agree with the "use the PGPSW data" suggestion (because it is more comprehensive), that's no reason not to work out why you can't access the TT version....
Firstly, you may not be aware that TT changed the way that their own camera database works. As it no longer uses the standard POI system, everything is rather different.
Not sure where you found these "instructions" but here's what you do...
tap main screen
go to 'tomtom plus services'
tap 'tomtom safety cameras'
tap 'change warning preferences'
select 'all' (or any other option if you prefer)
type in preference for warning time
select warning type - options here depend on whether you are using a recorded voice or a text to speech one.
That's it. You will now get warnings when you drive past a camera that is in their database. What may be confusing you is that you will NOT see them in "browse map".
Updates can be done either via a Bluetooth phone or via the internet and 'Home', so no phone bill.
