Hi Guys,
My step father bought an ICN750 two years ago with full Europe and Scandinavia Maps. Some of the roads he uses in france have now changed and Navman say they are no longer supporting this model for map updates. Can it be tweaked to run any other software(i.e. TomTom) or are there map updates for available somewhere other than from Navman??

Thabks for any help on this one

So far as I know, the maps for this device have been out of stock for a little while now and there are unlikely to be new ones. TeleAtlas are the map suppliers and, having looked, I cannot find any on the web anywhere.
Tweaking the device to run maps other than TeleAtlas is out of my league but I would imagine it would be a major undertaking and would be cheaper to upgrade to a later model. Crying or Very sad Bear in mind that a set of maps is usually about £99 and GPS devices are continually falling in price and getting better (?), then your options lean heavily to getting a new GPS and selling the old one on Ebay. Do your sums. There are always buyers out there willing to accept the older maps if the overall price is right. Wink

So how old are these iCN700 map updates in Navman's UK online store then?

Good point! When I enquired last week, it said "out of stock".

hmm just talked to Navman and they say now that there will be no more map updates for the iCN700 series (so the 2007 TeleAtlas data will not be available)

They offered me a new s model, with a 30% discount when I complained about this (only bought the thing last year!)

Oh Great! Only bought my 750 from tesco in May this year. Only 5 months from new and obsolete!

Fact of life, mate! ALL technology is obsolete when you buy it! Still, think of it, your 750 is still working, isn't it? Doesn't it still guide you to your destination... then be grateful Laughing

I was hoping Navman had got there act sorted out as far as customer support goes, although a 30% discount is quite generous -

By the time you sell you old 750, get the 30% discount on the S series, and factor in 100 quid for map upgrade (based on other upgrades Navman have made avalible), you will probably be ahead of upgrading the 750 (if it had been an option), and you have the latest new toys.

I phoned Navman about this on Monday. No new maps will be available ever - after only a year! How silly. The person I spoke too was telling me about how other products had been discontinued, but the ones he mentioned had been after three years. Not the best thing to say really.

The offer is not generous at all... as they want you're old icn750 back before they'll send you the new S series. So you don't even get the opportunity to get some money back by selling on eBay.

In reality, if I had been using this for two years then I'd be ok about it, but it's only been a year since the icn750 was selling for over £400! I'm glad I bought mine a lot cheaper than that, but I reckon there'll be some extremely unhappy Navman owners who come to upgrade their top-of-the-range GPS and find there's no new maps for it.

Seriously bad service.
Steve

I assumed that as they had no need for the old 750, they would let you keep it, I bet all they do if put it into a landfill anyway (Envronmental Vandalisum). This has to be the crappiest customer support so far from Navman, and I though they were already at rock bottom......

Since Navman released map upgrades for ancient 610 last year, I'd be inclined not to believe claims like these.

I think this is much more likely.

I would think a definitive answer wouldn't be too much to expect from Navman. Who is it that has not got their act together?

Sent a similar email two days ago about possabilities of new maps for icn7** but no responce as yet. I'm going to try something a little more direct tomorrow.

I've had my 750 since it came out, so this mapping issue does not impresse me at all. If I get the 30% offer, I think I'll take it. Evil or Very Mad
