TOM TOM 1 LOSS OF SOUND.
Got a Tom Tom 1, 18 months old. The sound keeps on coming/going. Reset it tons of times.
Tried Change Voice Test nothing. Took card in out several times.
Sometimes if I fiddle with the off/on buton at an angle it comrs back on again.
Unfortunately keeps coming/going.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Kind regards

Have you tried a Reset Factory Settings in Change Preferences.
Note that you will lose any Favourites you might have. _________________ Richard

Check the License file somewhere on the unit. The guarantee used to be 2 years, now it is only one.
Otherwise try "Eldar's" http://www.satnav-shop.com/ for a repair. |

WEnt on To Tom Tom. Dowloaded, updated everything you can think of.
Still no sound!
I am going to ring Halfords tomorrow to see if they will change it, 18 months is not long for a new pece of kit to last.
Also, I noticed I paid nearly £300 for it, you can get Tom Tom 1's for hlf that price now.

Any luck with finding the guarantee period?
Mine for the Go300 was in a folder called Licenses, the file is "Lic_eng.txt", and it said:
Quote: | 6) LIMITED WARRANTY AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY:
c) TomTom warrants to you that the Hardware will be free from defects in workmanship and materials for a period that is
the shorter of (a) two (2) years from the date that the Hardware was first purchased by you and (b) the period ending upon your
breach of any term of the EULA (“Warranty Period”). During the Warranty Period the Hardware will be repaired or replaced
at TomTom’s option (“Limited Warranty”), without charge to you for either part or labor. This warranty covers the prompt
replacement of the data carrier and the Hardware only. If the Hardware is repaired after expiry or the end of the Warranty Period, the Warranty Period for the repair will expire six (6) months from the date of repair. |
On my Go720, it is called "EULA-English-NO_US CAN.txt", and is much more restrictive:
Quote: | 6) LIMITED WARRANTY:
a) TomTom does not and cannot warrant that the Software and/or Hardware operate error-free. You should be particularly aware of the fact that calculation errors may occur when using Software and/or Hardware in a navigation system for instance caused by local environmental conditions and/or incomplete data.
b) Except for the Limited Warranty document included with the Hardware (“Limited Warranty”), if any, and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TomTom and its suppliers provide the Hardware and the Software “AS IS AND WITH ALL FAULTS”, and hereby disclaim all other warranties and conditions....., |
I think the paper warranty says 1 year.... |
