they get banned and lose the remainder of their £19 instead of losing only £2 - a bigger pill to swallow _________________ Andy

Autoroute shows No. 29 as about 50 yards up the road from the Google map. |
Blame the verifier, blame the team, blame everybody other than the person submitting questionnable information
People fail to appreciate that the verifiers are giving up their own time to travel, at their own expense, to a site and if the co-ordinates or other details don't appear then they'll be somewhat miffed.
If somebody then questions there decision, then they're likely to be even more miffed _________________ Andy

Is it really so difficult to understand? Pay £2 grab a download, share, get caught lose £2 and the remainder of your one months subscription, at most 1 more updated release. Pay £19 grab a download, share, get caught lose access to the remaining 23 releases and lose your subscription of £19. If you're still struggling with that then I can't make it any clearer! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Have you thought of offering free lifetime membership to the 1,000th person complaining about the subs or querying the effectiveness in deterring fraud?
I can hardly believe how this is running and running, nor the patience of Darren and most of the others!
If I understand it correctly -
- £2 did not deter copying, £19 has virtually abolished it
- membership has not declined since the change
- your database is more accurate than the others
- the £19 annual sub is less than any of the others and none of them offer a monthly option anyway
- most/all complainers are not subscribers
- most/all complainers have not bothered to read the thread before they repeat what other complainers have had refuted months ago
- I am amazingly intelligent because I understand this
- I must stop reading this thread before I go mad (but I don't seem to be able to)

I know how you feel, I've made a mental note to lock it when it's been up for one month or when we can get through 24hrs without a new post! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Perhaps there'd be more chance of that if all staff, mods and regular contributors stopped replying to comments that have been addressed over and over again.
I too keep vowing I'll stop following this thread, but I think I carry on reading it to see just how long it takes Darren to lose his cool.
I really admire his tolerance and courtesy! _________________ Anita

Good man Darren, but NOT A DAY LESS, there's still 9 days to go ... DennisN wrote: | I don't know about starting a book on how long it goes before "they" lock it to gag the complainers, I'm not a bookie. But personally, I'll bet you a year's subscription they don't lock it for at least a month - "they" would be too embarrassed to stifle debate by that tactic. | Come on folks, keep it going!!! _________________ Dennis

We have just discovered the first case of sharing of the database since we moved to the annual payment scheme Whilst one case in six weeks is a huge reduction it serves only to make this one case that more annoying.
I've have had enough and so I have decided to name and shame the thieves in a new thread here. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Despite some members being deliberately antagonistic, I think that's a good move.
Obviously, the knowledge that a database can be tracked back to a member hasn't been sufficient to deter people pirating the database so perhaps the extra deterrent of naming and shaming might just do the trick.
If it was me, I'd have done it long ago - but you have your reasons _________________ Andy

tomo1304, Dennis and a few others, I have hived off your discussion to here as it is outside the scope of this thread.
I missed a few of the opening posts but if you could if necessary continue your discussion of that subject there please. _________________ Darren Griffin |

May I suggest, Darren, that you make that thread a Sticky and keep it at the front of the forum for all to see? Oh, and if possible, alongside each one a note of the value of their lost subscription - I presume that in less than a month's time all monthly memberships will have expired. _________________ Dennis

I was just thinking the same thing - it defeats the object of that thread if it gets lost off the page _________________ Andy
