Hi I just brought a nokia n95 and thinking buying a gps software for it. My prefered choice is tom tom, however i have read reviews that it does not work well with nokia n95. Can you advise, as neither nokia or tom tom confirm whether they are mutually compatible?

Yes and no, the software works but it cannot communicate with the n95's built-in GPS. To use TomTom at present you need an external Bluetooth receiver _________________ Darren Griffin |

What it would take is for someone to write a vertial serial port application that communicated with the GPS API. Then you wouldent need TomTom hacking or integration.
Also why Nokia dident alllow a standard com port emulator to the gps chip is beyond me. Unless of course they only did it to sell more subscriptions until people patch up. |

That would be the obvious explanation. They have their own navigation software (and now their own map provider) so why make it easier for the competition. And they also rely on customer ignorance. _________________ Darren Griffin |
