K810i, T610, and Z610i all work fine on 720.

The 720 is now £259.40 at amazon with the 520 model at £232.00

With all these units problems one may be best to just save your money (if you already have a working satnav).

Just seen that Amazon and Halfords online are now offering the 720 for £229. Shouldn't be too much longer before it gets to the magic £199... I hope! Very Happy

Well, at this rate, I'll soon be able to buy 720 #6 before I take #5 back!!

Dennis, you haven't thought about buying another product if you're not happy with your 4th replacement unit? Or did I miss something here? Confused

But seriously, what are the big issues with this product? Are there hardware problems with the units that make people unsatisfied? What about the MapShare feature? Is it up and running properly by now?

The MAIN issue that seems to affect a lot of units, is buzzing or lack of volume on hands-free calls.
If you don't have that problem on the one you buy, its 99% OK.

TT insist that this is a software issue that is being worked on, most users seem to think it is a hardware problem, otherwise it would affect ALL units, wouldn't it?

I love the GO720, it seems just what I want if only it'll work right. My main problem has been with the hands free.

Anyway, latest developments for me are ...
My GO710 packed up - the battery wouldn't hold a charge. So it went back to Maplins who phoned me today saying not only was it beyond repair, but also they didn't have another to replace it with. So I could have a refund/credit. It all ended up by me going to my local Maplins, where I eventually came out with a new GO720, PLUS a credit note for £55, being the difference between the price of my 710 last December and today's price for the 720. So I have GO720 #6 to start all over again. I've just spent quarter of an hour with TT support phone to try and get the latest map - I bought the 720 at 12:11pm today, the map is 705.1480, they have map 710 on their website and I want it free under the terms of their latest map guarantee - surely my brand new 720 meets whatever criteria they have for the 30 days guarantee?

But I digress. The GO720 #5 was a replacement from Halfords and I went in to them this morning and played them the recording on my phone of the hands free morse code bellowing and they agreed it wasn't nice! So they said they'd replace it again or why didn't I consider a Garmin Nuvi 660FM which was as good? So later (after getting a 720 from Maplins next door, I went back and got a Nuvi 660FM, plus gift vouchers for £30, being the difference between the reduced pric of the Nuvi and the price I originally paid for the GO720. Much more of this and they'll be paying me to take machines out of their stores!!

Happy days! More learning curve to get on with. At least the Nuvi comes complete with Traffic. I wonder if it works. And have I correctly understood that it will do hands free phone FM transmission to my in-van tranny?

You will find the POI view on the Garmin great for pointing out camera locations that need checking Wink I find this very handy when I have it in the car - Mike

Dennis,

As those two models of satnav you now have are the very two I'm trying to decide between, I'd love it if you could, at some point, do a comparison and which you find better for actually putting you on good routes, as that's what I want satnav for, not bothered that much by interface, customisation etc. Also would like to know which of the two is better with the FM transmitter feature used in car.

If you do this can you PM me, in case I miss it, I'm not here everyday!

Thanks,

NN. Cool
