|
|
I have made up a POI file for my Navman F20 for places I go to for work.
One of the blokes I work with wants a copy of these POI's but he has got a TomTom One.
How can I convert this POI file from Navman format to TomTom format ?
I have downloaded POI Format Converter but I have got to say I have'nt got a clue what to do next ( if this is indeed the program I use anyway ).
Any help / push in the right direction would be VERY much appreciated. _________________ Keith

Do you mean the Richard Davies POI Converter? It is not blindingly obvious on how it operates. However, it is simple.
Click on the open folder and find the Navman POI file that you want to convert. In Options make sure that Tomtom is selected. Then in the file menu click on "Save". That should do the trick. _________________ Navman ICN 520

I do mean the Richard Davies POI Converter.
I tried doing what you suggest , but when I try to open the asc file , a box pops up saying:
Data Error
No Comma Seperators
In record
Correct format is: Longitude, Latitude, "Name"
What this is telling me is lost on me I'm afraid.
I made up my POI file for my Navman using the information I got off the PGPSW forum.
I used Notepad to make up the file and as an example of how I laid it out on Notepad , here is the first line on my POI file.
0.267449, 51.339886, "Abbey Court N/H"
I know I have done the Navman POI file correctly because it works perfectly , but trying to convert it to a format for a TomTom One is starting to give me the hump !!!
I stupidly thought it would be a piece of cake to do this , but I am having second thoughts about that now. _________________ Keith

Presumably the File is a CSV File?
If so, rename the extension to .asc, and then, with POIConverter, open as a TomTom Text File. I think it's the default.
When you use the Save Icon it will by Default save as an OV2 File in the same Folder.
I think that will overcome your problem. _________________ Richard

Something is'nt going right here.
I have tried it as an .asc file and as a .csv file and neither of them is working.
Is there another way of doing it using a different program ?
There is a strong possibility that the problem is me , because Bill Gates I 'aint I'm afraid ! _________________ Keith

For those who are interested, I had a look at the File and the final line (record) consisted of a space and Carriage Return.
POIConverter therefore gave the message that it did, because that record was incorrect.
Deleting the space and extra Carriage Return meant that it loaded the file correctly.
Using Makeov2, it just ignored the last, incomplete, record. _________________ Richard

I prefer Oldboy's POI's but there are other categories here not covered by his. They download as .CSV files but you can download the free convertor tool HERE which should work with Oldboy's.
Just drop the .CSV file on to the Tools icon and out 'pops' an .OV2 file. |

Just drop the .CSV file on to the Tools icon and out 'pops' an .OV2 file. | You can also download a converter from Here, and this will also convert OV2 Files to ASC Files, by dragging the file to the program, in Explorer. _________________ Richard
