I am also in the middle of a debate with Tom Tom, even had to call Mr Goddijn, their MD on Friday.
I was assured that I would receive a Version 3 TMC (part number 4v00-013). You can imagine my surprise (dissapointment) when the replacement arrived this morning and it is a part number 4v00-000.
They did say that if the device did not turn up than I should purchase a Version 3 and they would refund the cost.
Anyone know who is stocking a version 3 TMC, otherwise it looks like Mr Goddijn needs to get another phone call on Monday
Thanks

Beaconlegal, I have two open cases for a return of v3 receiver to be replaced by a v3 receiver as well! They have not got a clue what they are doing - I have already returned my unit, so will have to wait and see what version I get back. Keep you all posted in a week or two.

An RMA has been generated for mine yet the only action I received was to update my address page, what happens next, and how long should I expect to wait? |

They will post you a cardboard box and pre paid Royal Mail special delivery envelope - you have to put your receiver and a copy of your proof of purchase in and then take to the Post Office.

They've received mine now, bit worrying that they keep talking about testing it for defects when they have acknowledged that it's not really fit for purpose already.
Quote: | We have received your defective item(s).
We are currently testing your item(s) to determine the defect. If the repair is covered under warranty, the item(s) will be repaired/replaced free of charge, usually within 10 working days. If the repair is not covered under warranty you will generally receive an out of warranty confirmation, along with the repair fee, within 3 working days of receipt of this e-mail.

Another update with regards my experience on exhanging this TMC I got hold of customer support yesterday after 20 minute on hold and they were very apologetic and said it should not have happened as the version 4V00.000 is an obsolete number, well they have now generated a new RMA number and when my box arrives again I will send ithe TMC back and we will see what replacement I get in return. |

Has anyone actually received a v3 receiver back yet after returning a v1?
or do I sense a delaying tactic...............
Why are they testing units - all they should be doing is exchanging a unit that they have admitted is not fit for purpose.
I know mine was received by them on Monday from the Royal Mail tracking info, but so far there is no update on the RMA. If there is nothing on there by the end of tomorrow I will be contacting them back for the 1001st time as their email instructions stated
Quote: | WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT?
As soon as your package has been delivered by the courier to the TomTom Service Centre, you will receive notification by e-mail. |
Not seen an email yet......

After requesting a replacemet via phone, which apart from the young lady initially denying a replacement program existed (she did say she was new), my box has now been sent of via the Poat Office. It will be intereresting since my unit has been modified. I took Mike Alders advice and didn't mention that I'd modified it, although I did say I wanted a replacement as it didn't work 'as sold'.
I'll let you know the outcome.

Can someone give me the phone number for TomTom Customer Service incase I should need it. They seem very reluctant to publish the number. I wonder why? |

Mine is on its way back, so fingers crossed, though in the email they've managed to change me from a Mr to a Mrs somehow, so I'll probably get an out of date lettuce or something similarly useless for traffic updates through the post from them. |

At least an out of date lettuce won't perform any worse. |
