Well, went out and bought a TT1 3rd edition yesterday.
Reading thru the licensing blurb (no, I'm not really that geekish usually ) I was surprised to read that you will only be able to use TomTom Home for 12 months from first usage!! So I guess after that you will either have to pay for the privilage or, buy one of their expensive upgrade maps and then perhaps get access again.
Bit sly that!

Have you got a link to that? I was aware that MapShare only lasted for *12 months , but HOME as well?
*In fact, whilst your map will only be updated by TomTom for 12 months, you can still make your own alterations after that, other limitations depending. _________________ Tim |

CORRECTION. Sorry Tim you are indeed quite correct, it refers to the Mapshare feature. It's printed on one of the cards that comes with the unit, and intially since it was on about connecting to the PC, I thought it referred to Home not mapshare. sorry.
That said, I'm still iritated, Mapshare was one of the reasons I went for TT and dind't realise it was limited time.
Oh well.

Ah, OK. Well, like I said, MapShare is 'partially' restricted to a year. This is because of limitations in the number of changes that can be made to each map. _________________ Tim |

Well, with any luck TomTom will be able to make any updates cheaper, at least to the MapShare community. That way, those who contribute will benefit whilst those who don't, won't. _________________ Tim |

This doesn't sound right. Is this changes to my map (my device) or to TomTom's map (their master copy)? For either option, how does TomTom know how many changes are going to be submitted in a year? 1,000, - 10,000, - 1,000,000, - 5,000,000?? _________________ Dennis

But you can download [some] updates for free! That is the whole idea. OK, so you probably won't get new road layouts, like the Coulsdon bypass, but every time I connect I'm offered "Map corrections" and then a host of "POI corrections" depending on which ones I've subscribed to. _________________ Tim |

That does sound wrong. What version of HOME do you have? With HOME 1.6 ou can see more detail than with HOME 2.x. Also, what level of downloaded corrections have you selected? _________________ Tim |

Have you "joined" Mapshare?
Are you logged into Home? (Which version?)
Have you set map corrections preferences (trusted/many/some etc.) on the unit?
Have you set POI corrections preferences in Home? |
