Posted: Fri Sep 21, 2007 6:24 pm Post subject: How do I update TT One V3 Safety Camera database? |
|
|
My 1st post and a cry for help.
I have just bought a new TT One V3 and I'm having problems updating the Safety Camera database using TT Home.
I have registered a profile with TT, entered my free services code on their website, and installed Home software, Everytime I try to download updates I get "No Updates Available to Download". Does this mean my new TT already has the latest map (I doubt it) or am I doing something wrong?
Any help appreciated. |

An update. I activated Map Share on the One and this does not work either. When I registered my free services code, I chose the TomTom 720 WE option becasue there was no TT One option. Perhaps this has messed things up.
Has anyboby got any ideas? TomTom support looks pants. Their "email Support" option has a fault which doesn't allow emails to be sent to the. Arrrggh. |

Have a read of this thread and see what you can pick up in it.
I'd guess registering a 720 might well jigger you up. You could re-register using a different e-mail address - trying to get through to Tom Tom that you made an innocent mistake is like something against the wind! And they require you to have a different e-mail address for each and every device you wish to register (you said "pants" yourself).
I have a sneaking suspicion you may have a dud device. You could try taking it back to the shop and saying you want a refund because it doesn't do what it's supposed to do - alternatively, let them make it do what it's supposed to do. _________________ Dennis

It is annoying that the guide in the box pointed me to there website which did not contain registration options for my model (infact there were no One options). I think this will be my last TomTom - It's probably going back tomorrow and I'll get a Garmin or something. |

Oh well. TomTom Support replied today offering no useful info. I cannot be bothered responding to them again when each exchange takes 48 hours, so my One has been taken back and refunded.
I won't bother buying TomTom again. It actually looked quite a good piece of kit, but poor instructions and poorer customer support have let it down. I think I'll stick with paper maps. |

I wrote to TomTom a few weeks ago regarding this and they replied thus:-
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.
If you have the TomTom One 3rd Edition, it comes with version 7 maps. Currently on our website, we are selling version 6 maps.
As from October onwards, you should be able to use the latest map guarantee code. When you enter this code, if within 30 days afterwards we have a map update available on our website, you can enter this code to obtain a free map update. After 30 days, the code will no longer be valid.
The code will be available to be entered into your account from October onwards
With Best Regards
The TomTom Customer Support Team

I could be wrong, but I thought there was no free update to the speed cameras from TomTom
A version is installed on the machine when you buy it, (which incidentally, seems to be made unreadable by the software update that Home offers you, but that's another story), but if you want updates, you have to register and pay. |

Oddly enough, I keep being offered updates to cameras when I connect my 720 to Home. I'm not sure why, but I think it's either ONE free update to deal with the ancient rubbish preinstalled, or due to the fact that after my first 20 minute battery charge and Win Explorer backup, I deleted all the TT cameras in sight - maybe it thinks I really want them. _________________ Dennis

The newer devices (720 included) came with a green leaflet which offers a "Safety Camera Update" So I guess they offer an update to the latest standard once you purchase the device in a similar way to the latest Map Guarantee that is on the same bit of paper - Mike |
