I have a TomTom One v2, but not one of the serial numbers for which v7 is currently available from the TomTom web site. I was impatient to try the new version, principally because there are quite a few mapping errors near where I live which makes TomTom pick less than optimal routes.
I used a card reader and put my SD card in. TomTom Home recognised the card and started up. I clicked Change Device and chose the 3rd instance of TomTom One New Edition from the drop down menu. TomTom Home then offered me the new version of the firmware, and installed it on the card (of course, I had a full backup!).
When replaced in my device, the new application works fine and, as promised on the TomTom web site, the map correction works with 675.1409 maps.
I have already inserted a new one way system in my town centre, which helps a lot for any route which passes near.
One feature which I would like to see is the ability to show where right or left turns are prohibited - there are one or two places near me where TomTom tries to make me turn right where it is illegal. Perhaps in a later version...
When TomTom finally offer v7 for my device I will download it, in case there are some tweaks which are not in the v7.12 which I have, but I haven't found any problems yet

You can report these 'No left/right turn errors in MapShare, although you can't make immediate use of them on your device. _________________ Tim |

I've been using this as the best way I can see to report the many "No Entries" caused by new road closures/gates in my area (along with a comment, explaining what I'm really trying to report!).
Seems to me that the much more obvious "Block/Un-block road" option, does something else entirely - producing a road the device thinks you shouldn't drive down, which is not the case at all.
What worries me is all the Mapshare submissions that will have done just that. |

Yes, Block/Unblock is certainly not the wording I'd associate with what that function actually does. We also need a 'No entry' option, especially for roads that are only one way for a part of their length. This has already been conveyed to TomTom. _________________ Tim |

Hi Robin,
Hmm.. Interesting.
I tried doing exactly as you described in your initial posting and......
Got - no where! I bet your using TTH1.5/1.6 eh? No joy on ttHv2.
According to other posts the upgrade is due for general release in "the third quarter of 2007"? isn't that now? are we not starting the 4th quarter in 12 days or so? Come on TT!
I can't wait to see what the upgrade 7.12 looks like. By the time they reach TT1v2 they'll be charging for it..... _________________ TVR

Just for reference, my TTH upgraded to v2 at the weekend and in doing so upgraded my TT One V2 to 7.12.
This was on a unit bought in May.
Map Corrections doesn't work because I've only got v660 of the UK maps.
I guess if I buy another map this will work. 40 pounds is way to much for this though. Wouldn't TT sell more maps if they reduced the price?
Nice improvement to the software. My favorites are:
+ The HelpMe --- Where AM I feature
+ Audio warning when driving over the speed limit |

I have out of curiosity done this on my GO 710 changed my device to see it as a TT1 V3 and downloaded and upgraded tomtom home to version 2 for home and ver 7.120 for my device, all came up working fine tomtom will route correctly got the map share options and everything else that goes with ver 7.
Only thing is when I insert my sd card into my card reader or connect using the tt cradle home will not see my device as connected to the pc???

Will V7 become available for the 910? If so does it allow be status bar to be repositioned from the bottom of the screen to the side? |

Well now, Hmmm....
Yes & Yes, depending on what you choose to believe-
Yes - V7 will be made available for TT910 according to tom tom's website "for all go models" & due "3rd quarter 2007", where nearly in the forth quarter.....
Yes - V7 will allow you to move the status bar to the right-hand side of the screen.
Hope this helps, Traveler _________________ TVR

I wouldn't believe anything 'til you've actually seen it working on your model!
Just because it is a feature on one, doesn't mean it will appear on another (eg the car cursors) |
