I'm not sure what the improvements are, but if you download the TomTom V3.01 Update, there is a GPS folder which contains an updated GPS V3 driver.
Copy the CAB file to your PPC and then double click on the file, it will install. It seems to work with TT V2 so it might fix the bluetooth problems.
Best of luck... |

Sorry to ask, but where is this folder? |

Well spotted! I've installed it and it appears to suffer none of the COM Port locking debacle that 2.08 and 2.09 had
I can now access Memory-Map and other GPS apps without having to mess around uninstalling TomTom~GPS.
For the benefit of others, download the TTN 3.01 update .zip file to a folder and launch the setup.exe. This unpacks the remainder of the files and folders one of which is a 'GPS' folder. In this are three .cab files, one ecah for ARM, SH3 and MIPS processors.
Copy the relevant cab file to your PPC. Uninstall the existing GPS driver, soft reset and then double tap the .cab file using file explorer on the PPC to launch the install, it will soft reset and auto delete the .cab file on installation. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I installed the 3.0 GPS after removing and resetting GPS 2.09 (never installed the wizard with BT update). I still get the greedy port syndrome, but uninstalling the TomTom~GPS, as before, allowed the port to be accessed by other apps without removing the TomTom 3 GPS. |

Hmm, we'll need to take a closer look at this. I had v2.07 previously and after uninstalling that and installing v3 I have not had the COM port issue. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Another little new nasty.
If you start TT without the PDA BT turned on, it unchecks the "tick" in the GPS box for selecting the TT BT GPS unit and shows GPS disabled.
After turning the BT back on and even after restarting TT it remains unselected and disabled, so you have to reselect the TT BT GPS check in the GPS applet.
Previously once you re-enabled you PDA bluetooth it just resumed the GPS connection.
Reverting to GPS 2.0x does not resolve the problem so something else must have changed.
The setting in the registry that it is changing itself is:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\TomTom\GPS Engine\Enabled (=1 or 0) |

Did you remove both TomTomGPS and TomTom~GPS entries before installing v3.0? _________________ Darren Griffin |
