The PocketGPSWorld.com Safety Camera Database is proving more popular than ever but sadly such success brings the less pleasant facts of life to the fore. Whilst we employ anti-piracy techniques we are fighting a losing battle against file sharing, warez and other pirate groups.
Even though the quality of the pirated versions are usually suspect, often out-of-date (although advertised as current), full of holes, and seeded by us to render them ineffective we suffer damage. And so we have been forced to take positive action to protect the future viability of the service.
Sadly many see the monthly members subscription option as an easy way to get the database which they then upload to file share sites and warez groups. To thwart this we have chosen to remove the monthly subscription option as of midnight tonight. From tomorrow only the annual payment option will be available to new subscribers and those members renewing.
We hope that those loyal members of PocketGPSWorld.Com and subscribers who recognise the database as offering the highest data quality and best service will continue to subscribe to the members area. The annual subscription fee, unchanged at £19.00 (approx £1.58 per month) still offers unbeatable value for money. This change will also reduce support issues arising thru PayPal payments and allow us to work ever harder to support more devices and improve the service to members. _________________ Darren Griffin

I fully support your decision, Darren. For the reasons you give I don't see you had any other option.
I hope it relieves some of the pressure on you guys. _________________ Anita

I could not agree more.
£19 a year is excellent value for such a well maintained and accurate database. |

Sorry to say that I do not agree with the above postings! I use the data base to up date my Tom Tom G500 about 4 times a year as I only travel around the UK only occasionally so I don't need monthly updates! Just every now and then to keep up to date with my machine. It seems that now I will have to pay even more than the £8 per year to get any! Incidentally I do not visit the warez sites mentioned. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the work you have put into the data base but feel £19 per year is too much. Still when needs must I guess I will be joining the yearly membership but feel like every one else I am paying too much for most services in the UK than any where else in Europe.
Thank You
Peter

There is another alternative, revert it back to free then no one would need to bootleg.
I suppose this is timed to now issue an update after nearly a month. |

As you've never subscribed I don't see why you should be that interested? As for the delay in releases this month, that was a mixture of our Database Admin MaFt having a holiday and some wasted time identifying the culrpit behind a raft of pirated files.
In an ideal world everything would be free, but that doesn't pay the bills does it, or do you work for free too? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Annual subscription of £19 is a small price to pay for the best camera database available. Anyway, the rest of the site is free with all its information, help and advice. Keep up the good work guys! |

£19.00 a year that may save your licence or a fine... or help you reduce your speed so that if you do hit something or someone it might just save a life.
Bloody bargain!
