another newbie question for my TT720 I'm afraid.
I used to sync POIs using POIEdit. This worked on my PDA with TT6, but now with my TT720, it works, but the POI Names are all corrupted. I've found the culprit. It seems to be down to a file called *.inf, which contains the last update data in POIEdit. If that file is the same name as the POI, the name gets screwed up. If that file is deleted, it's ok. Is this problem specific to the TT720, or a restriction on Go's?

Hi Rob
I recieved my 720 this morning and so far no probs but I did notice after loading my POI's from POI Edit that the names where all corupted, The first place I looked was on here and lone behold here is the answer deleted all the inf files and the name are all back.
It seems the tomtom takes the name from the data in the inf file.
anyone any clues???

Hi Again
Right until we get a fix for this I have done a work around to strip the *.inf files from the POI's.
First change the dowload location for POIEDIT to a folder on your pc instead off the map folder on the X20
then in the same folder make a new text file and in that text file add 3 lines.
COPY *.OV2 G:\Western_Europe\
COPY *.bmp G:\Western_Europe\
pause
then save file with a BAT extention (something.bat)
the "G" above should match the drive that the 720 apears as on your PC
You don't realy need the *.bmp files every time but if you create new POI'S then this will ensure they are copy'd
The pause just stops the batch file so you can see what has been copy'd
This seems to work OK

Thanks guys. I got the same error on my Tomtom Rider V2 after doing the update. Removed the inf files as you suggested and all OK now. |
