|
|
Was given a TomTom One as a present, loaded up the home on my iMac, attached the One, backed it up. It then said there was an update, downloaded that and it died? took it back, got a new one and the same thing happened again? on number 3 now and I'm worried about attaching to PC as I don't want it to happen again but also want a different voice and the speed camera warnings too! I'm not good at this stuff, please help! thanks Thomoone |

Did you use the Version of Home that came on the CD? If so what version was it?
Without connecting your ONE to the PC, get HOME to check for HOME updates and see if the latest works for you.
As to Backing Up, use the Mac equivalent of Explorer, ( sorry don't know), to Copy all the Files and Folders to your iMac.
Generally most users only connect to HOME to search for Updates and PLUS Services. _________________ Richard

thanks Richard
yes it was the home on the disk. What I'm worried about is it killing the machine itself or just the SD card? If it's just the SD card then I can clear it and reinstall from my back up yes? But if it's the machine then it will have to go back again? |

NO,NO,NO, The backup made with TomTom HOME is rubbish, it misses files and folders. If you clear the SD card and re-install your HOME backup, it won't work. You need to do a Full windows explorer backup(or the iMac equivelent). The link is how to do it on a windows computer, but it must be a similar method for an iMac, look at number 1.

yeah, tried to re-set and when i returned the 2nd unti the guy in the store said, AH I KNOW WHAT THIS IS, tried to re-set and then said, NO I DONT!
the unit appears completely dead - does anyone know if all of the data is on the SD Card or is there some memory in the machine itself?
thanks |
