|
hi all, i have been constantly reading this forum amongst others with regards to my first ever purchase of a sat-nav device.
I am a medical rep by profession and am wanting to purchase the 720 for its directional capabilities but also the hands free calling feature.
I am still trying to ascertain if this unit will have the drs surgerys i need to access or will i have to include them on there myself- the 60 POI issue is a bit of a worry because i will have over 300 surgeries i will need to input.
any advice greatly received |

Welcome to the forum, The inbuilt POI are not very good at all (Classic understatement if ever there was one), but you can use the MapShare feature to add more should you want to
Or create a POI file that contains all of the locations you need and install that to the device, as this is only one POI Category you still have 99 to go at - each POI category can contain thousands of individual locations with phone numbers as well if you put the information in when creating the file, is your list currently stored in Excel format? - if so translation to a different POI file type such as ov2 for TomTom is easy - Mike |

cheers mike!
since i am completely brand new, i would not know where to begin in how to use, set up, store etc- the lack of manual in the box concerns me
realistically somebody could go and make a mint if they went and tracked all doctors surgeries and then sold the database of their locations to pharmaceutical companies!!
i think i am now near ready to take the plunge- i will wait until tomorrow the 30th, to see if the internet wide rumours of the 920 being true |

There is a manual (well quick start guide) in the box and an 84 page manual in English on the supplied CD, after that when/ if you get stuck simply ask on the forum as someone will have most probably seen your problem previously and know the quick fix/ solution.
As for creating POI files this site does host a very comprehensive listing for loads of different categories including Health Care, at the moment though there are not too many enties in some of the sub-sections - see Here - this can be increased as people add to the files - Mike |
