Hi All, im sure someone out there can help.
My Garmin i3 Streetpilot Version4, has been a great bit of kit which i bought 2 years ago.
Suddenley it wont navigate in real time, all other functions are running perfectly, it is searching for satellites all the time.
As far as i can tell nothing has or has been changed, it will even simulate route.
But wont run.
Help, off on hols in 2 weeks.

Have you tried resetting the device? - you will have to re-enter certain settings such as Home and POI Warnings etc but it is worth a try.
Hold down the two buttons and the scroll wheel for a few seconds, when it asks about resetting or wiping out settings answer Yes, then see if the device will work correctly - Mike |

I have an i3 which suddenly stopped working on batteries. After trying all sorts of things including seeing what the price for an out of warrenty reapir would be from garmin (£72) I decided to reinstall the firmware (2.7) it is now back to normal so it may be worth the try as it only takes 5 minutes. There is the slight possablity of killing the unit but it doesn't work now so give it a try. |

Have you taken it outside to an area with a good view of the sky and waiting 20 or minutes? Initial lock can take a while. |

How long does it take?
Do you keep batteries in it when not in use?
Did you try my advise above? |

It sometimes takes minutes, one day in a return trip of 8 miles she never did find sats, as a rule 5-10 mins.
I did as you advised and it did lock on as you said it did take 15-20 mins.
Keep batteries in most of the time too. |

5 - 10 minutes is a long time if you keep batteries in it all the time. Even after a hard reset mine only takes 3 or 4 minutes.
Normally mine takes less than a minute to get a lock.
Sounds like it's developed a fault. Try speaking to Garmin. |
