I've got a T-Mobile MDA Compact II (HTC Charmer) at the moment but it's out of contract so decided to have a look and see what's new.
I see Orange to a SPV M700 (aka HTC Trinity / P3600) with GPS, 3G, WiFi and all that stuff built in.
Has anyone got one of these? Are they any good? What sat nav software do you run on it? _________________ Gone fishing! |

If the 3G high speed internet access is required then the 3600 is the way to go, but I am not too sure about one from Orange as they lock things down with weird ROM loads on their devices.
If you are not too bothered about 3G speed and can make do with standard GPRS take a look at the O2 Orbit (with WiFi) or the T-Mobile version, the MDA Compact -III (without WiFi), both these devices are badged versions of the HTC P3300 Artemis - Mike |

They are both good phones, I tried the orbit which has good GPS receiver but I didn't like the earphones using mini usb port.
There is tons of info here http://forum.xda-developers.com/ |

Thanks for the feedback, speedup and mikeadler. I think I'm going to get one of these SPV M700 units.
I kind of figured that mike would be the one who knows about these things, you are the gadget man!
Anyone got thoughts about the CPU speed on the HTC Trinity (Samsung SC32442A-400MHz)? I see that it has a different CPU to my Charmer (OMAP 850 @ 195 MHz) which can be clunky at times). Is it any faster? I can't find much written about it on the developers forum etc.
As for the ROMs, it does sound like Orange used some crippled ones, though I'll probably be upgrading the ROM and unlocking unit faster than you can say "I wonder if this will void my warranty" _________________ Gone fishing! |
