RAC 110 route planning help please

Hi All,
Just been on holiday and used a friends TomTom rather than my RAC 110.
The software on the TT is far easier to use especially route planning.It could show me the route calculated & give me option of an alternative by deleting a part of the motorway I didn't want to follow.
Can this be done on the RAC unit? It will show me the route but I can't seem to find a way of manipulating the route.
To be honest I don't know how to use the way points,is this the option for a flexible route?

You can only do the route by adding a waypiont.
