I am an idiot you are a genious
//note to self - when somebody goes to a lot of trouble to write a help file - READ IT!!
OK Here is how I got it working - most of this is covered in your explanation of how to install ukpostcode but I just didnt read the document properly. When the install didn't work I installed CheckPOInt to try that. Of course I then tried to run the install for ukpostcode again instead of remembering to just copy the 2 files (exe and dat) to a folder in my SD card.
Anyway, here is how to use ukpostcode on a WM2003 PPC with TTN3:
Install TTN3.
I then updated to 3.01 (avail from TT website) but you may not have to.
Install CheckPOInt 3.2 avail from http://checkpoint.oabsoftware.nl/
Copy the ukpostcode exe and dat to a folder on your card as per Niels instructions.
Make a shortcut to the exe as per Niels instructions. Voila! A working solution.
Sorry for duff gen earlier and hopefully this explanation will make me forgiven (me blushes).

Glad that you have got the program up and running but I have a problem. I originally loaded a version several day ago. This was the version that had a number of Post Codes missing. Now yesterday a colleague told me that the program had been updated and in fact showed me that the missing codes were now available.
So I downloaded and installed exactly as before but to no avail. It just will not work and an error message tells me that the Exe file is missing.
Any ideas please?

I've tried that. The error messages are:
1] Installation error - ukpostcode.dat not found in exe folder (it IS there)
2] No matching postcode in database
Thanks for the reply

Have you tried deleting the shortcut, create a new folder, move exe and dat to new folder, delete old folder then create new shortcut to new exe.
I know it sounds longwinded but it may fix things (of course it may not but theres only one way to find out) _________________ Rgds,

browse to windows/startmenu and press stylus and hold it down, popup menu should offer paste as an option. _________________ Rgds,

Problem resolved by simply re-loading GPS Assist and taking a YES to all the updates. UK Postcode works fine.

Hi Guys,
Sorry, been off the forum for a few days - busy at work.
Glad to see you are all managing to sort out the problems without me though - I really must get round to sorting out the installation program.
sland,
I'm dead keen to know what level of support TTN3 has for post codes... Any? Any chance of a screen shot?

In other words your application is still needed! I used it the other day, TTN had got me to the industrial estate OK but I couldn't locate the right unit (huge place with no signs!), I did have the Post Code so launched your app, tapped in the code and it took me right to the door _________________ Darren Griffin |

I did find a problem with installation - initially the setup files were located in a folder on my pc - C:\download\tomtom\uk postcodes\ukpostcode_all_ppc2002
When I tried to install, it didn't actually install anything.
I moved the install files to just C:\download\tomtom\posttest it worked fine.
Perhaps it's the space in part of the path, or just the length of the path.
It works fine now (ppc 2002 with the .net framework loaded)

Hi There,
Saw an earlier post from someone with a jornada 548 , still not quite sure if it will work on this running WinCE 3.0 on a SH3 processor , if it does work ok which download shall I select please, have just downloaded all the area codes from the posting at the top of this forum so if it does not work will try and install them instead, thanks it sounds real good so would rather try your option first.

Hi Mark,
No sorry, at the moment I haven't compiled the program for the SH3. I have had one other request for it, so I'll see if I can get hold of the right SDK for that platform and recompile the program for it. PM me your email address and I'll keep you informed.
