Hello and thanks for reading.
I am most ignorant in the ways of GPS.
I have just gotten a us global sat BT359W SiRF Star III .
I got it paired and working, but whenever I am at a slow velocity, the heading starts to jump. When I am at rest, it bobbles all over the place.
I am sure there is a simple setting in like sirfdemo I can send?
Any help appreciated |

The mode you want to toggle on/ off is Static Navigation, this should be set to ON for car usage and Off for walking (slower speed use), there is some information in This Post which details switching the SN on/ off.
Please be aware though messing around with some programs like SiRF Demo etc can ruin your GPS if you don't know what you are doing, read the information in the link and you should be Ok using the methods detailed there.
If you need to use the GPS for both walking and in car I would leave the SN off as it doesn't offer too much assistance for the car mode IMHO - Mike |

Thanks!
I'm still picking up the terms here.
So I have SN to toggle, but I am using it in the car:
[Google earth via earthbridge or GooPs] in all cases, the heading twists and turns (making me dizzy looking at the map in 'follow-me mode'.
Basically, still can't seem to get the heading to stop spinning when staionary.
I read this quote from you, making me think it should be 'on'?

Finally, in SIRFDEMO , should I be in NMEA or SIRF protocol mode?
(and I know the answer may be "GET OUT OF SIRFDEMO n00b!!!!!) |
