Firstly, my apologies if this is common knowledge, but I have tried to search the forums for the answer to this without any success.

I have just got myself an Eten Glofiish M700 all-in-one PDA/phone/GPS with TomTom Nav 6 (thanks to SuperGPS). No problem there - I got it working without any trouble and I've been really pleased with both.

The issue I have is that TomTom seems to dump all it's stuff in the root of the memory card. I got a 2GB card specifically so I could keep some MP3s, photos, and other data on there, along with TomTom, but I like to keep things tidy and TomTom seems to make it very difficult to do so. There seems to be the following there so far:

2577 (folder)
raster (folder)
UK_and_IE_plus_major_roads_of_WE (folder)
voices (folder)
zip (folder)
install.bif
Start.exe
ttdesk.ver
ttnavigator.bif

And if I add other maps, I am guessing it will create extra folders for each one.

So my question is... is there a way to force TomTom to keep all it's stuff in a single folder? Or at least make it a bit neater?

Any ideas very much appreciated.

All the best
James

James, this is not possible the files and folders need to be in the root directory of the card for the software to find them. You can add more folders to the card without a problem but putting all the TomTom related files/ folders into one location simply will not work - Mike

Thanks for the quick reply Mike. Is this a common irritation for TomTom users?

It has been seen before - each time the user has wanted a "tidy installation" but I wouldn't go as far as saying it was a common irritation - Mike

It is actually possible to run TT6 from a sub directory on the SD card as I ran ver 6.00 in this way for a while. Postcode and voices dont work so you have to move them to one of the directories TomTom searches in RAM or ROM.

When I updated to ver 6.03 I let TomTom install itself in the card root and just added extra sub directories for the other software. It may not be tidy but it works.

I'm not quite sure what, or how I did it, but I have both TT5 and TT6 running on my Ipaq device...TT5 runs my N American maps , and TT6 runs the UK and Europe.....I use a seperate 2gig card when in N America, with their maps on, and plug in the other card when I get back home here, with UK on it etc. Seems to work a dream.

Hi
i have recently partitioned a 4gb CF card and used in my 2210 with success.
I wonder if a partitioned sd card would do the trick?
!!
would it do what you want?
