NUV1 660 Reception through athermic Windscreen

I just recently received my 660 and have not had a chance to try it out. I do notice that I can acquire satellite lock very quickly from anywhere in the house. HAve any 660 users found that the external antenna is not needed with this unit when in a vehicle with these new windscreens such as the new Renaults?

My nuvi 660 works like a dream without an external antenna in my Renault Laguna (athermic windscreen) and satellite reception is fantastic. (unlike the TomTom I used to have which required an external antenna to work).

Just come back from France after hiring a Citroen C4 and my Nuvi once again worked flawlessly without any problem with reception.

Try it out and you won't be disappointed.

Thanks a lot Martle! I suspected that might be the case. My previous unit was a Navman and did not work at all through the windscreen.
