|
|
I just got an email back from TomTom about the new 3rd edition ONE.
i couldn't find info anywhere about it...
-----
I want to make sure i purchase the most up to date version of the tomtom One. i have heard rumour of a "NEW AUGUST 2007 MODEL WITH 6.75 MAPS WITH INTERNAL MEMORY NOT OLD SD CARD VERSION" is this true?
and how do i make sure i get this new version?
how can i tell the difference between the new and old model?
Does it still have the SirfStar III chipset?
thanks.
------
May we apologise for the delay in responding to your query.
In regards to your query, yes there is a version 3 model of the TomTom One comming out. It has no memory card slot and everything is installed on an interal drive. The unit doe's not have bluetooth and has the words TomTom One 3rd Edition on the top left hand corner of the box.
The GPS chipset is a SurfStar III Plus.
Hope this helps.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team
------
Thank you very much for replying. I have a few more questions:
when will it be available?
If it doesn't have bluetooth, will it be cheaper than current ONE?
If it has no memory slot, i am assuming it has no option of memory expansion...? i was planning to buy a 1 gig card for it.
How much internal memory does it have then for POIs etc?
Does it have any advantages over the current ONE, apart from the SirfStar III Plus chipset?
many thanks again.
----
i am awaiting the reply to the last email. i will post once i hear back.
anyone know anything about this new version? pros/cons on the internal memory etc. price?
tim. |

Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.
In regards to your query, the newer version should be available within 1-2 months [received this email aug 16th], I am only guessing this as no official date has been advised. I am not sure what the price will be as no details of the recommended price have been released as yet. I do believe it should be cheaper but I can not 100% guarantee this. The device has no memory slot so there is no memory expansion option. The internal memory will either be 1GB (for the Europe version) which will leave between 30-50MB free, or 512MB for the regional leaving around 150 - 200MB free. I do not believe there will be any other advantages but please wait for the official press release (on the Home page of the site) as more details about it will be given then. |

So if you buy a uk ONE, you won't be able to upgrade, and buy Europe maps, or buy extra maps for the Europe ONE. I supose you could back it all up, and delete everything, then install new maps, but that will be a pain. _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav |

Ive seen a tomtom one on the 13 August with internal memory and a SD card slot. Found this out when i tried to give a fellow driver some poi's. when i put my card into his slot the tomtom tried to load but asked for registration code .I can only assume the card slot overrides the internal memory. I cant remember which maps were installed, but i know he baught it from Halfords .
sorry i think this might be a v2 |

Missus bought me a TT one for bday in July. She ordered TT One UK/I and they delivered TT One Europe! (Ooops forgot to tell them) Anyway, when switching on it says TomTom ONEv4 at the top of the 'version' option. It has 1GB internal memory and an SD slot which it will try and boot from if you plug a card in (I presume it will ignore the internal memory/maps if you boot from the card) - I have used Windows explorer to copy all internal files onto a 1GB SD card that I have spare and apart from appearing to boot a bit slower it doesnt' work any differently from either option. |

Tom tom one 3rd editions arrived at halfords in swansea yesterday. The only differences are:
Silver band surrounding screen as opposed to black - this is the main give away its a 3rd edition.
No SD card slot.
Tom tom version 7.101 application software - (same look as 520/720 menus) and includes mapshare ability.
European version is the only one we have in at the moment. It has v705.1485 maps onboard.
Jack in the bottom (presumably for FM traffic receiver).
I believe the tom tom one 2nd edition will be able to run the new app 7 software as soon as tom tom release the update.
£199.99 at the mo
Heres a pic!

Is v705.1485 maps the very latest maps?, i'm going on holiday to Ireland in September and want a Sat Nav with good Republic of Ireland coverage, without breaking the bank! _________________ Don't follow me....i'm lost too! |

I reckon it's just a One V4 Euro which has internal memory & an SD slot & isn't necessarily a "new" version. |

So this new ONE has Mapshare? I thought this was just for the X20 series TT's. This could be very interesting as I don't need the other features of the X20 but I do want Mapshare.
If anybody else could confirm this I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks |
