Just been offered this new firmware via home now. I've declined it until I know what's in the change log. I'll come back as soon as I know.
Pete
Edit,
No sign of a changelog on the UK or USA tomtom site. Anyone else assist with telling us what's in this update? |

I've also just loaded the updated firmware. Can't see any changes but I'm hoping this fixes some of the sound/battery issues..

Hey guys - just installed 7.010 and the volume issue is solved!!! Can anyone else confirm?
How to test: Tap on "change preferences", tap "volume preferences". Increase slider to 100% and UNTICK "link to noise level" and then tap "test". Prior to this update the screen would stutter and you'd get audio clipping/distortion. I could always replicate it until now. |

@ Skwark
that sounds (no pun intended) great. Do you think it's because they have limited the volume? (i.e. old 85% vol is now new 100%?)
Have you tried it with TT Home yet - do your preferences remain intact. Choice of 'car' icon, status bar vertical as opposed to horizontal and POI warning noises staying on the selection you originally chose?
May try updating mine before I go back to PCW and ask for a refund if this seems to be a step forwards (although I do have the buzzing microphone issue which may mean I still have to return it) _________________ Chris

Unfortunately, mine still shows this fault. But I doubt I would ever have it at 100% anyway as it is very loud.. |

Pleasingly, the issue where data (computer voice / text to speech camera warnings) would be lost when the sd card was removed seems to have been resolved.
Sadly, using home app 1.6 I still cannot use the virtual control option. I suppose that's more of a home issue than a firmware issue? |

Installed the update with Home 2 and tried the "operate my go" function (which downloaded a new navigation engine to match the new firmware) and haven't played with it too much but it seems OK - then again I've never had any problems with Home (touch wood) other than it pestering me to download old maps I don't want. As far as I can tell everything remains the same before and after use, including cursor, etc. but then they always have for me. |

Have just updated to 7.010.
The Kate voice at 100% no longer rattles the speaker as it did before when on battery power. |

Update installed Ok, but after the restart my satallite position was way out even though I had a good sat. fix, a restart solved the problem.
The Help me!, Drive to help has not been fixed my nearest doctor is still in France some 139 miles away. |

Same here. Lucky this thing updates automatically, eh? Imagine if we had to keep checking a website for patches!
Speaking of which; it looks like I'm the only one not to figure this out straight away but it would have been nice if after the update Home had either restarted the 720 or told me I had to do it. I only realised the update hadn't taken when I restarted Home for an unrelated reason and it said it had to download the update again.
Granted, when I disconnected the unit, the next time I switched it on the update would have been completed but what if it went wrong? I don't want to have to deal with that as I'm sat in the car ready to go! |

The only way I got it up and running again was to do a hard reset using the hole underneath the unit. What a palaver _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2699lmt

So this remote control problem we're seeing can be fixed by resetting the Go? Sheesh. Well, at least it's in our hands and we don't have to wait for a fix. I wonder if this is going to be standard operating procedure for an update... To be honest, I've seen worse!
A couple of questions spring to mind:
1. Can I then restore from a backup or will that bring the problem straight back?
2. If I can restore from a backup, will all my phone settings and the like come back too? I know I could just do it and find out and I know that storing all that stuff is kind of the point of a backup but there are backups and then there are backups, if you know what I mean. |
