Ok. I see what you are saying. Had to scroll down and find POI cat. Then dl. I have saved the file to my tt folder in my docs. How do I get tthome to recognise the file to install or what folder do I put the folder into?

You need to unzip it first to get the contents.

Also be aware that some TomToms have a limit to the number of POIs you can add. Someone will be along to advise you better and show you how to load them.

So you've unzipped them and you've got four files -
Home_Depot.bmp
Home_Depot.ov2
Lowes.bmp
Lowes.ov2

All you do now, is copy them into your map folder on the GO720. Are you happy to do that without any further guidance?

Edit - sorry, changed depot to Depot (case).

You don't put the downloaded folder on to the TomTom or use TomTom Home to install the POI files that are supplied this way (thankfully).

1/ Unzip the downloaded to folder to a known locaton on your PC - (desktop makes it easier to find where you have put it), the unzipped files will be of file type ov2 (the data) and .bmp (the icon/ image).

2/ Cope the unzipped files (not the folder) to your map folder on the TomTom.

3/ Go the Change Preferences/ enable_disable POI and check through the list to se your installed POI files are checked, or use Change Preferences/ Manage POI/ Warn when near POI if you want an alert (audio and visual) when you are close to a POI of that specific type - Hope this helps - Mike

Your going to love this. When I open up the zip file there is a folder in it that is just a file. A 21kb file.
I am downloading the folder that is the do it yourself with the lowes in the sub folder. What am I doing wrong. I understand exactly what I have to do but something is amiss.
I am going to try another category and see if that works.

Sorry but it can't be both. Is it a file or a folder?

Did you try the Show Link option?

I'll try downloading the same files.

What I meant was I was downloading the lowes zip file only. I am unzipping it and in the folder is just a file not a bmp or the other thing. I tried another for the home depot that I found in another category and had the same issue.

You don't OPEN the zip file, you UNZIP it. Double click the zip file with Windows XP and it will put up a window in which you can see an entry "Unzip all files" which you click to unzip, whereupon you will find (if you've only done Lowes) the two files I've said above, Lowes.bmp and Lowes.ov2

OK. Mac or PC? If PC what browser? If not IE, try IE.

Did you try the SHow Link Option? I downloaded both POIS in one go. Without the Show Link option i got a corrupt ZIP file. With the Show Link option it worked fine.

You don't OPEN the zip file, you UNZIP it.

You can do both, if you use programs like WinZip or 7-Zip. If you open the zip file first you can see the contents without extracting anything. I usually do this first to see what is going to extract where....

I use Winrar to do all my zipping and unzipping. Good news I got Lowes to work when I used the link option. I also got all the sears and other stuff from another category.
Now is there some special way of organizing these folders? When I search for a poi lowes did not pop up just said no poi available but when I went to the icon in the tt it showed me right away where they all were. What I mean to say is Lowes is in and working some what.

Thank you for your help. I have what I need to make this work. I apologize for the confusion. Up until a bit ago I was trying to make all this work through the tom toms interface home.
All I had to do was access the disk directly, which no one really mentioned doing. Ill figure out the rest on my own. Thanks again. cheers!

and

In fact no-one mentioned using TT Home at all.....

Glad it's finally sorted. Enjoy.
