Well my Dixon's order has finally arrived.
Only sad news is that I am at work & therefore will be unable to play with it until I get home tonight.

When I first bought my 510 go I managed to register the unit with a product code on the tomtom site. I note there is no such product code with my 720 si I'm unable to go through the same registration process.
Is this correct or am I missing something?
TIA,
Pete |
I have same problem. It appears that you can only link 1 unit with your account and you can't change it for 6 months
I have emailed TT to rectify this but as of yet NO REPLY |
I rang them about the same problem.
You need to send them (by FAX or post, no email):
Quote: |
- A proof of purchase for the device you wish to use your PLUS Services on.
- Or, a proof of repair/replacement for the device, on which you would like to use your PLUS Services on.
- Your new Device Code.
(This can be found under the 'Change Preferences - Show version' menu)
- Your email address
- The Reference Number of this email communication:- xxxx-xxxxx
Do not use handwritten text in the documents that you send to us if possible as this may cause delays when dealing with your requests should they be illegible. |
FAX?!!! POST?!!! Is this the 21st century or what?
As I'm off work today and want this sorted by Thursday when I go on Hols, I've got to hunt out a newsagents with "You can FAX from here" sign as soon as I can drag myself off the PC. |

I rang them yesterday and they said what you are saying and that I could email it as well, which I did. So some plonker at TT is telling porkies. I have also faxed it off (0031208501072). NO reply to either method yet _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2699lmt

Did you realise that FAX number is to Holland?
I only found out after battling with my wife's office combined photocopier/Fax/scanner for half an hour and realised they have an international block on the line |

Update...
I got back on the phone to TomTom...
I said "I'm told I could have emailed this stuff back to you rather than waste two hours searching for a Fax machine that would do international calls"
"Ah yes sir" was the reply, "But I have to send you an email first and then you have to reply to it".
OK I said, but as he was half way through getting my email address, he suddenly said he thought he could do it himself if I would tell him my password for my TomTom account.
OK I said...
During the next 10 minutes he asked me for my "product code" (I gave him my device code as it is a new device I'm trying to register) and he then said that he DID need the Product code.
When I said that the 720 map doesn't HAVE a product code he was baffled.
Then he asked what Plus service I was trying to get, (I'm not) and finally said I'd need a new account with a new email address (I told him I didn't, if I wanted to DELETE the old device code).
Lots more keyboard tappping and music on hold, then he finally said he couldn't do it after all without the proof of purchase and escalating it to second level.
"OK, back to "plan A" and send that email for me to reply to" I said.
"Certainly sir...."
Waiting
and waiting
that was half an hour ago now
still waiting

As I said... I've never got a useable email address out of them.
The original message sent to me giving the Fax number was do_not_reply@tomtom.com
and the promised message from the TT guy I spoke to on the phone never arrived.
Fax number was the same one you mentioned. |
