I think i would prefer to compete with the 13 ton fire engine with a trained driver than the driver of a vehicle swinging a caravan behind, with little or no experience hoping for a lucky break. _________________ TomTom Go 60

Sure it is, but when was the last time you saw a caravan on his way to an emergency call which involves an imminent threat to lives and/or property.
Or would you prefer that fire engines pootled along at caravan speeds? _________________ Gone fishing! |

It was never my intention to misalign the fire service in general which do a marvellous job, my original comment was aimed at the specific posting, and i also accept that there is failings in both caravanners and other drivers, unfortunately this subject I feel has perhaps got a liitle bit out of hand so I will withdraw from the subject. and apoligise for any ill feeling caused. |

On a similar note, I've recently seen trucks displaying stickers saying "Restricted to 40mph on single carriageway"
...how does a truck know whether it's travelling on single carriageway, dual carriageway or motorway _________________ Andy

The same way a thermos flask keeps hot things hot and cold things cold....it must be really clever !! _________________ Tommo...

Well, I walked straight into that one didn't I?!
...but it's not as though there are markings in the road to tell a truck when you pass from single to dual carriageway...
...so I guess the sticker in question actually means "restricted to 40mph on single carriageway if the driver flicks the switch"
In my experience though, if there's a line of traffic travelling along the road with what looks like a truck at the front of the queue, there's usually a car in front of the truck slowing everybody down _________________ Andy

On the subject of caravans, a caravan dealer in Northern Ireland has an amusing name:
Bann Caravans

I'm sure a lot of people are thinking "I couldn't have put it better myself" _________________ Andy

BTW, a Thermos flask works with a vacuum giving insulation to the contents of the flask and preventing cold liquids heating up or hot liquids cooling down. It therefore doesn't matter whether you add hot or cold liquids to a Thermos flask.
...but to a truck, a single carriageway, dual carriageway or motorway must all look the same _________________ Andy

Don't be so naiive. It is, quite simply, good old fashioned magic. _________________ Dennis

I agree with DennisN. This scientific mumbo-jumbo from GPS_fan is typical of theorists trying to make money out of a natural phenomenon. _________________ Tommo...

What does naiive mean? My mummy says I'm sweet and innocent...my wife says I'm a smartarse
I wonder if the Magic Circle knows how it works
Well, whatever it is I've found that genuine Thermos flasks do it better than other makes _________________ Andy
