Excuse my ignorance but if I select say 10 of the different poi categories in poi section and then select the combined option in poi download section does that mean that when the file(s) is extracted in to the tt map folder and you go to enable the poi's then it will only count as one category on my tomtom or would it be 10? |

If you select 10 sub-categories and combine them then you will have 1 POI category only.
If you have the Fuel Category, and select Shell, BP, Texaco and Q8, you will have 1 file that has 4 sets of Fuel Stations in 1 file. Each POI location will have the correct 'make' as a prefix.
For every main category you select you will get 1 POI file.
Also be aware that in combining categories, that there is a limit of 20 sub-categories in any one download. If you exceed this it comes up as a corrupt file.
If you need more, do them in groups of 20 and combine them with something like POIEdit of POIConverter. _________________ Richard

Hi thanks for the quick reply but I'm still a little confused. In the fuel example you quote is that using the combined download option or the separate file option?
Many thanks for your help.

Dave | Richard must have gone off for his cocoa. Yes, he means use the "Combine subcategories into category file" option to put the four types of fuel station into just one category. Each one will still identify itself as Shell, BP etc, but they'll only take up one of your POI allowance. _________________ Dennis

Just to clarify... when Dennis says "Each one will still identify itself as Shell, BP etc." and Oldboy says "Each POI location will have the correct 'make' as a prefix."
they only mean in the NAME of the POI entry. If you have combined them into one category, the ICON you see on-screen will no longer be the individual brand, but just a generic petrol pump picture, as the satnav can only have one icon per POI category. |
