i backed up my tt910 this morning by copying ALL files to a folder on my laptop, then the wife messed with the tt910 which stopped it working i then had to copy all the files back to the tt910, ehilst i was coping the files (copy & paste) not the tomtom software backup, there was an error reported on one of the files, ithink it was 'north america' something...... anyway eventually copied all files back to the tt910, now there is no spoken directions, or spoken street names? i have checked all the relevent tick boxes.

On the 910 will be a folder named Loquendo can you right click this and select "Properties" on the PC - what is the folder size please?, I assume from what you have posted you made your back-up using Windows Explorer and didn't rely upon the TomTom Home software for this? - Mike |

Why can't TOMTOM supply the Loquendo folder on a cd/dvd for registered users to copy back onto their units. :D
There is many including myself who have lost the computer voice from their unit. |

The onus to create a full back-up is down to the user of the device, that said TomTom have a fair bit to answer for in my opinion:
1/ The stupid option to omit the voice files to save time when using Home
2/ The early versions of Home messed up the folder structure renaming folders resulting in no computer voice when a back-up is restored.
IF you are affected as per option one you need to contact TomTom to rectify the situation, the Loquendo full voice folder is a huge 4GB so it is not too practical to "download" and neither is it available AFAIK.
Option 2 - this can be fixed as I have done this myself - it involves re-naming certain folders etc using capital letters where required, this is why I asked about the folder size in my previous post, if the folder "Loquendo" is around 4GB in size and the computer voices don't work on the device we can fix the installation -
I suggest you both report back the folder size before we look at the possibility of folder re-naming to try and recover the voice packs - Mike |

Re-check the folder size of the folder named "Loquendo" and make sure you look at the actual size it should be around 4GB - NOT MB?? - Mike |

Good it looks like you have a true back-up of the Loquendo folder, I would suggest the following:
Use Windows Explorer for this
Delete the Loquendo Folder ON THE 910.
Copy and Paste the Loquendo folder from your back-up to the root of the 910's hard drive, (this will take some time).
Once its complete go to Change Preferences/ Change Voice and select the Kate Computer voice, press "Test" and does it actually say anything?

Great news, and keep on top of the back ups they are vital to recovery of the device when things go wrong (as you now know).
All we need is for site member UK2007 to report back the folder size and see if we can get that problem resolved as well - Mike |
