|

Hi,
I have reently been put on a GPS project and still learning about it.
I am comparing GPS with EGNOS right now. Completely new to evrything about this,
Please does anyone have data values comparing them? (- possible latitudes and longitude? and graphs too?)
Does anyone know how to use the EMS values from EGNOS to correct GPS values?
Any documentation or resource will be appreciated.
thanks

EGNOS and 'GPS' are complementary systems - not one or the other. EGNOS (in Europe), WAAS (in US) and MAS (in far east - not sure if this is up and running yet.) send correction information to suitably equipped GPS units. This allows units to correct for some of the positional errors inherent in the system. Just buy a WAAS / EGNOS compliant system and away you go. (Most new GPS units are so equipped). But a word of warning. WAAS/EGNOS transmit from geo-stationary sats - so reception will depend on where you are. Also signal strength is generally lower than that received from the GPS sats (which orbit much closer to earth).
Googling for WAAS or EGNOS should find you loads of technical information if you are so inclined. _________________ Phil |

yes i have been looking at them.
well i wanted to validate the need for EGNOS- which is evident, but trying to get some real data; and also with the availability of SISNET there is an option to dial in.
with that option now, how then can i corrrect real time data?
i am looking for an application that will not depend on the line of sight, say inside a building?
so can I also simulate this possibility? With data from the EGNOS EMS system, can i correct previous data which Ihave logged with a gps unit? if so , how?
thanks |

You would be much better looking through this site http://www.egnos-pro.esa.int/sisnet/index.html which gives loads of information about EGNOS and the real-time/post processing of information. _________________ Phil |
