I have an Xda Orbit as a business phone and have been using it for some basic GPS stuff. Mainly on foot for navigating around cities while on holiday, looking for a client's office, or even working out how to get back to my hotel
I've been using the maps from Autoroute 2005, just as a local city base map for each city I have been to. However, I'm considering using the Orbit while touring the Alps in a couple of weeks.
The latest version of Autoroute will provide voice directions, but I'm a bit hesitant as it's not known as the greatest GPS software, BUT... It does cater for my need to design a route on the desktop and export it to my unit.
Can anybody suggest any other Software that will allow me to do exactly that; design a route on my desktop, and export it to my Xda ??
I'm going to be on a motorcycle, and I have an interface to the Xda to a headset that will provide the voice directions, so the actual map is secondary in this case.
I could also do with a waterproof case for an Xda Orbit, if anybody knows of one. _________________ Completely lost in the world of GPS

Not too sure what software would be best for you - I use a couple of road navigation packages on the Artemis TomTom 6 and Route 66 but neither really allow true PC route definition.
For a waterproof pouch have a look at the AquaPac range, they even do one with an integral feed through lead for 3,5MM stereo plug for the audio feed (which you will need unless you use the A2DP Bluetooth audio output). I posted a few pictures a while back of this case, inside it is an Artemis so your XDA will fit, see This Thread - Mike |
