I have heard nothing more on CP7 and no CP will not give you the next version free no matter what, you will have to buy it. I'd just wait
Does anyone know what version of the navteq maps the curent Copilot live 6 version uses.
I am struggling to decide which system to use either wait for Copilot live 7 to come out or use version 6, get tom tom 6 or route 66.
Route 66 uses the navteq maps version 2006 Q1 so there data is over 1 year old!!! do not really fancy tom tom and who knows when copilot live 7 will actually be out!!!
Either way I will need the european version with my yet undecided O2 Orbit or Orange SPV M700.
Thought I'd also let you know the carphonewarehouse in the UK has the SPV M700 in black. In the Orange store you can only get it in white unless your a business user!

Fpr Grolsch30,
I went for Route 66 N7 and they use Navteq Qtr 2 2006 mapping about as up to date as you will get anywhere, (bought direct fron R66 site) have it about 10 days now and am very happy with it!

I just noticed Bohica's post mentioning my name. Many thanks for your concern.
I've been off the internet for some months owing, mainly, to illness. For similar reasons, my SatNav equipment sits gathering dust most of the time for the moment, although I'm hoping that an operation I'm having next week will change all that in due course.
I see that Copilot still generates a lot of teeth-gnashing. One thing I have notice, because what few journeys I have made lately have been into cities, is that the mapping errors in TomTom 5 (I know it's not the latest, and that TT 6 or whatever it is might be different) make me think that CP has a lot to commend it, relatively speaking, at least, after all.
Mr P!
Good to hear from you Sorry to hear that you've not been well.I hope things improve and you get back to your "old self" soon.....you've been missed around here,as who else is going to keep ALK on their toes...
And talking about old,I'll be taking my CP6 out for it's annual outing to France shortly,so at least it will give me something to look at apart from the wife! during the two days, and I'll be able to have another chuckle halfway dow France when the routing hangs a sharp right, and starts routing you towards Albania!....
The thing about CP at the moment,is that it's like your favourite old pet,you really want it to sort itself out,but you know in your heart that the kindest thing to go would be to put it to sleep........
The protracted release date, now heading for 6 months, shows that there must be something very wrong somewhere in ALK land.......

Yes, hello Ponderous, glad you're still there and wishing you a speedy recovery.
I too have been absent, maybe a year or so now. My old iPaq 3970 with NavMan sleeve took a severe beating on the motorcycle and quit working on a ride to Alaska in 2006. But since then I made a more robust power connection for the pair and brought them back to life. Though I still have many gripes, I find CP6 to still be unique for trip planning, gpstracks, and using MS contacts as destination.
I have since acquired a Nuvi 350, which the girlfriend and European visitors really like. And the Zumo sounds perfect for motorcycles, but lacks some of the CP features I need.
Hoping for big improvements in CP7. _________________ Doug
