I have accidentally deleted my phonebook on my motorola V560 mobile. I have all my contacts in my 510. Is there any way of transferring from here back to the phone?
I know the likely answer is No but worth a try. Have loads of numbers so thought I would ask before starting the arduous task!
Thanks in advance |

Only half an answer I'm afraid. There's a directory on your GO called Contacts and inside that is a file called Contacts.txt. So obviously you can copy it to somewhere. Mine has loads of entries, but they're not in alphabetical sequence. Format is "Joe Bloggs", "07907123456"
Unfortunately, that's as far as my ability stretches - I've just spent ages trying to see contacts on my phone (Nokia 6230i), but the closest I've got is to see a directory on the phone called Contacts, but I cannot see anything in it, so I've no idea what the file format might be.
Just in passing, my phone can store these on both phone memory and on the sim card and I've always made a point of copying them from one to the other, so that I can port from one phone to another by transferring the sim card. Don't suppose you've got the same? _________________ Dennis

If it was a Nokia, I'd get the file onto a PC then manipulate it until it was compatible with Nokia Data Suite, Logomanager or similar.
Then use that program to get it back onto the phone or SIM.
Motorola must have similar tools.
Or cheapo usb SIM reader. |
